Hemicrania Continua medication called Indomethacin?

This is a self diagnosis, so please be patient.
I have had this headache since I was 11 years old. I am now 20. I have been through every test available, and nothing showed up to explain this pain. I have tried many different medications, most do nothing, some work for a time.
I was researching different types of headaches, mostly because I'm tired up being brushed off by doctors who have given up. I found a type of headache that seems most like the type that I have. There are even a few symptoms that I have, that I didn't associate with my headaches. I am going to my doctors this week, armed with all the information I can find on the headache and the drug that treats it, but I'm hoping that there is someone with experience that can give me some advice.
Like I said, I've had the pain for 9 years. It has been constant, except for the times when I med has worked for a period of time. It focuses in my forehead around my eyes and just above my eyebrows. When the pain gets extremely bad it sends a sharp pain back about a fingers length into my head. The pain never goes away, it just goes from bad to worse. I have blackouts (not losing time, losing vision) that usually last 2-3 minutes, but have begun lasting up to 10 minutes. The symptom that I didn't associate is the nose problems. I constantly have either a stuffy or runny nose. I have no allergies, and only very rarely get a cold. I get no stomach problems (ie nauseau) with the pain, but it can get so bad that I am laying in a dark room in agony over the slightest sound or light. It is not a clinical migraine, and all scans and tests show up fine.
I was recently on Oxycontin for the pain. I stopped that about 4 weeks ago, for 2 reasons. About 6 weeks ago, the pain began getting increasingly worse, and then 4 weeks ago, I ran out of money. I couldn't justify spending money for bills on a medication that stopped working. A couple days ago I ended up in the hospital, and they gave me Torodol. I was on this med before, after another trip to the hospital, and a WONDERFUL doctor who decided to try me on IV Torodol. It took the pain away 100% for the first time in 8 years. I was on Torodol pills for 4 months before it stopped working. It was working again, but today the pain is back.
My main question is how dangerous is the drug that is supposed to control it? It's called indomethacin. I think it's worth it to try, but knowing my doctor, she'll come up with a reason why it's pointless to try. She's convinced I'm depressed, and this is the cause for my headaches. Tell me, if you were in constant pain from age 11-20. If you had to drop out of school, and couldn't do the things you want to do, would you not be a little bit unhappy??? I will be the first to admit, my mood is not the best. But it's not the cause, it's the result. If the pain is gone, I literally dance down the street on my way home. I clean the entire house, go for 3 hour walks, thoroughly enjoy EVERYTHING around me. But she's stuck on this one thing, and is unwilling to try other things.
I don't want to get my hopes up. Please tell me if you know any reason why they will try to avoid giving me this medication.

But please, don't just tell me how dangerous all the other meds are. I know they can be addictive, I know they can alter your mindset.
I understand it's dangerous to treat, but I'm tired of sitting in the dark. I want my life back.

Also, if anyone knows any REALLY good headache clinics anywhere in Ontario, preferably around Toronto or surrounding areas, can you please let me know. I'm tired of this. I want to know the cause, and I want to fix it.

You don't have HC; I don't know a whole lot about the condition, but I do know it is nearly always on one side only (whereas yours is both sides) and includes the eye/nose symptoms you lack. That said, indomethacin would be worth a try simply because you've been through pretty much everything else. It's an older anti-inflammatory agent that does work for some kinds of headache, although I wouldn't expect miracles as in the case of true HC. Have you been worked up for analgesic rebound headache?  (+ info)

Any possible surgery for Hemicranial Continua if all other options have been taken and no results?

I am a 30 yr fm and have had HC for 4 years. I have exhausted all measures of meds and there has been no response. I have been admitted to hospitals and tests. I have tried Naturalpathy, acupuncture, and isogenics as well. Indomethacin is suppose to be completely responsive however for me it is not. I have been on 6 different medications with not even the slightest bit of relief. What other options do I have? Is there a surgery that will work? Not that I want that but, if it is my last resort. I have beeen seeing specialist after specialist and to no avail. Can someone PLEASE help me?

I am really sorry for you, imagining what you must be enduring. If amitriptyline has not been tried, it is indicated here. I haven't heard of any surgery for it. Please visit the following page-

I think you're talking about attachment parenting or something similar.
Obviously some times babies have to be put down and sometimes (like when on the freeway) when if the baby is crying, we can't pull over and we're forced to let them cry.

But in normal, every day life, Baby is held, cuddled, and comforted as much as he/she needs.  (+ info)

What do you think of my poem?

I should probably quit putting my poems in the Adolescent section all the time, but whatever. I put it in the poetry section before, and got some good ideas on how to change it.
So what do you think?

Of Agony and Ecstasy

Such a delicate balance you create,
Equilibrium at its prime.
Such a perfect mix of pleasure and pain,
Carefully measured, chemically combined.

Not confined to one side of the continuum,
You walk the middle of the line.
Crying tears of joy in the face of tragedy,
Beautiful and frightening at the same time.
----------

I liked your mixture and blend of words. The message was great and keep it up. You have a great potential to be a great poet. Keep doing poems like this and read more poems so that you will improve.

All in all, you did a great job and also, always ask for opinions/critiques from a relative or someone so that you would know your mistakes and next time, you won't do that mistake again.  (+ info)
