epididymitis has been diagnosed and now swollen for 2 straight days?
its really swollen, the doctor says it's fine but its the size of 2 testicules almost and im in no pain when relaxed. is this normal?

Epididymitis is usually treated with a very long course of antibiotics of at least a month. If it's causing you very little pain (you didn't really mention what it's like when you're NOT relaxed) that may be why they're treating you so conservatively. (

I've been celibate for three years and my doctor diagnosed me with epididymitis and prescribed Cipro. Is it possible for a celibate person to have epididymitis caused by bacteria? I got tested for STDs six months after my last encounter with my ex-girlfriend and didn't have any diseases then and haven't had sex at all since 2007. Is it possible that I have epididymitis from a bactierial infection without having sex?

Without anti inflammatory drugs, will the swelling reduce just from time/ with an antibiotic like doxycycline?

You might want to take some Ibuprofin (Advil) for the inflammation in addition to the antibiotic for the infection. You can buy Ibuprofin over the counter. Ice will help too. Put some ice in a ziplock bag and wrap a towel around it, apply to the area ten minutes on, ten minutes off. Follow with your doctor.

Epididymitis is very hard to misdiagnose. There are very few things that make that tissue swell up as big as your testicle. The antibiotics take a long time to work in that area. Also the drugs stay in your body working after the ten days is up. Relax, and don't do any w*nking for a bit. (

Doxy is fine to take, sometimes it causes GI upset but it shouldn't cause too many problems. It's important you take it for your Epididymitis. (

My boyfriend has Epididymitis; can we still have sex?
He definitely doesn't have any STIs, but apparently Epididymitis can be caused by other infections. If we have sex, might this infection be passed on to me?
We're not even sure it's caused by infection at all; he isn't experiencing much pain, and there hasn't been any unusual discharge or anything like that.

Epididymitis is most often caused by a bacterial infection or by a sexually transmitted disease (STD) such as gonorrhea or chlamydia. Either way he has an infection from bacteria (sexually transmitted or not). there is also the rare and uncommon case where this is caused by a fungus but still that is just as bad if not worse.
If bacteria were not there he wouldnt have an infx (99% sure this is caused by bacteria in your bfs case). therefore if you have sex with him more than likely youll become infected too. YOur pretty much rubbing an infected bfs body part all over you private parts. And remember your vagina is a warm moist area that both bacteria and fungi thrive in. (
