What are the causes of diarrhea in a dog?

He is a 7 month old lab . Got neutered 2 weeks ago. We did buy a new bag of puppy food about a week ago. Same kind as before,we didn't change brands. He has had diarrhea for 3 days now.
Probably something he ate. As long as he is alert and active it is something you can handle at home.

Feed him a soft diet of room temp. cottage cheese or yogurt with rice in small meals 3 times a day for a day or two and slowly switch back to his regular food. This will restore the normal flora in his digestive tract.

If he becomes listless or any other symptoms take him to the vet.  (+ info)

I had an appendix surgery 3 days ago. After that, I have been having diarrhea. Does somebody know if this is normal?

By the way, this kind of diarrhea does not make my stomach hurt, as opposed to (I guess) a normal diarrhea.
if your on antibiotics oral or IV your going to have some sorta of diarrhea and sometimes you have C DIFF , so i would start eatting activa type yogurt live bacteria is needed,if your on antibiotics , plus the anethesia and IV fluids make you dump , start eatting simple oatmeal with fruit , mash tators, grits , hot cereal s. soups like ckn veg or ckn and rice and toast ,   (+ info)

Why is applesauce good for diarrhea, even though apples and apple juice are laxatives?

When I had diarrhea recently, the nurse told me that applesauce was helpful, but fruits (except banana) and fruit juices were to be avoided because of the laxative effect. And I know independently that apples and apple juice are both laxatives. What happens to make apple sauce not a laxative? It's just apple bits floating in apple sauce.
the nurse is actually right. apple sauce contains pectin, which stabilizes food. it increases the volume of stool. for more information on it, look here:

I just bought kittens a couple of days ago. They're really unhealthy. They both have diarrhea, they're very skinny, and they refused to eat today. Anyway, since I bought them I've had diarrhea and I'm really thinking it may be from them. What kind of contagious disease could this be?

My 15 month old has been having diarrhea for more that two weeks now. but it is on and off he will feel fine for two days but then again it would come up i have stopped the foods that i was giving him like pasta, beans, rice, chicken and i am still breast feeding and no change. i have taken him to his dr. and she said to have his stool cultured but that takes forever. When the diarrhea is gone he has at least four or five times i.e after he eats a little bit stool. what do you think that is and what should i do until then?
give him a lot of liquids the worst thing is for him to get dyhrad. give him apple juices the ped. light stuff even, you can even make him some ice cream with like juices in them in a ice dray. put a lot of a&d on hes butt so it wont get burn or bother which just make it worst for you and him and wait for the doctor reports. and do not give him milk because two things can happen he can either have a fever and make the milk go bad in hes stomach (told by doctors) or he can have more diarrhea..good luck  (+ info)

I had a colonoscopy this morning and there were no complications. I am still having diarrhea, 10 hours after the procedure. It is really painful and burning, I can't take much more!

Can anyone tell me from experience how long this symptom might last?
That should have been over before or just after the colonoscopy. If this is continuing call your doctor.

I have had several colonoscopies and only once had loose stools afterwords. That was because the doctor had flushed the not as clean area towards the cecum with water (like a mini-enema at the far end of the large intestine). I know this because I was awake. Four hours later I was going to a movie when I got that strong need to find a toilet. No other effects after that.  (+ info)

My grandma did a colonoscopy which came back good today..she is having severe diarrhea though. Is this normal? For how long does this continue? Is it ok to give her some diarrhea medicine?

With a colonoscopy you are given medication that causes diarrhea to clean the colon.
But this clears after a day.

A bowel obstruction can cause diarrhea in itself.

She would be going into dehydration by now placing her whole body at risk.

I left work sick Sunday morning at 1am with diarrhea. I have been taking Pepto non stop since then but it doesn't seem to be working. I haven't eaten since Saturday night because I'm afraid to.
