even if you blood sugar is in good control???

It's possible, but not likely that you will have severe complications as long as you keep you blood sugar under control. However, if you smoke or drink or do drugs, you will be more at risk than other smokers, drinkers and drug users. You should also try to exercise and eat healthy to help avoid complications  (+ info)

Diabetes/complications?

need a nursing care plan guide for patient with diabetes, complications include peripheral vascular disease, and another with below knee amputation

So, it sounds like you need to go to the textbooks or look on the internet. I couldn't or wouldn't do this. Not ethical to give you what I would do. Might not be satisfactory for your instructor or whoever.  (+ info)

Diabetes complications?

I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there suffering from this complication....charcot foot? I just want to hear how long you've had it, how you're dealing with it and how do you exercise when you have it. Thanks
----------

Hi there:
I'm so sorry about your condition, it sounds like it can be very debilitating at times. I do not have this condition....(yet). I do have terrible neuropathy from diabetes though and show signs of possibly developing this in time.
Have you had surgery for this? I would ask your foot specialist about exercise. I'm sure you must take great caution in safety without much repetitive motions to the damaged foot.
I would seek out an exercise plan from a physical therapist who could show you the proper movements in order that you do not injure your feet any further. I hope you find this information helpful and hope you are healing well.
good luck  (+ info)

How can you get Gastric bypass to cure diabetes when diabetes is a risk for complications for GB?

Conclusions Complications occurred in 18.3% of patients, but 95% were treated without leading to lasting disability.
Presence of diabetes, early surgeon experience, and an open approach are risk factors of complications.
Hey Md I bet you wouldn't do it on yourself. It's not a "minor" operation or "low risk".
Hey Alex you may "correct diabetes" at your own risk cause DIABETES IS A RISK FACTOR FOR COMPLICATIONS IN THIS OPERATION GET IT?!!!
----------

The most important risk factor for diabetes is Obesity. in ppl with obesity insulin resistance develops, meaning body stops responding to insulin .this increases blood glucose and hence causes diabetes.
Gastric bypass is done on obese ppl to make them eat less. this very rapidly reduces their weight improving insuln resistance..body starts responding...blood glucose goes down...hence no diabetes..
bottom line is in obese ppl with no other risk factors like smoking etc. u diabetes is caused by obesity..u correct obesity, diabetes goes away...  (+ info)

Is there anyway i can aviod diabetic complications from diabetes?

I have diabetes, and have had it for 7 years now. My last A1C was 8.6, and i'm really scared about my future. Can someone help me, and give me some encouragement on how i can aviod complications?
----------

Taking care of diabetes is just a matter of lots of education. Don't take any single person's advice. Get information from as many sources as you can. Soon, you'll develop a clear understanding of what's good for you and what's not. If you research long and hard, you will have surpassed the average doctor or nurse's knowledge of diabetes management in just a few weeks. It's not that difficult and there are no secrets... just hard studying. For more, check my profile and follow the diabetes link.  (+ info)

What are some less common complications of Type I Diabetes?

I am 33 and have had diabetes for 25 years. I have not taken good care of myself at all and am now paying the price. I know the big complications... I am now having all these little crazy things happening to me... I am trying to figure out what in the hell is going to happen next. Thanks all.

Diabetic complications can be classified broadly as microvascular or macrovascular disease.

Microvascular complications include neuropathy (nerve damage), nephropathy (kidney disease) and vision disorders (eg retinopathy, glaucoma, cataract and corneal disease).

Macrovascular complications include heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease (which can lead to ulcers, gangrene and amputation). Other complications of diabetes include infections, metabolic difficulties, impotence, autonomic neuropathy and pregnancy problems.  (+ info)

What complications have you had with gestational diabetes?

I have just found out that I have gestational diabetes and I am over 37 weeks pregnant. It has gone undiagnosed and we have found out that I why my baby is so large. She is already 8 pounds 12 ounces based on the ultra sound. They won't let us induce until at least 39 weeks. I have been eating healthy but not healthy for someone with gestational diabetes. My concerns are now with my baby and I want her to be healthy. Any personal expieriences would be great!
----------

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy. The only real difficulty was a very long labor due to a large baby. A large baby is probably all you will have to deal with. If the baby is too large you may end up with a C-section so prepare for that. Don't worry, you will probably both be fine.  (+ info)

What are the possible complications of properly controlled diabetes?

How long would it take for these complications to take place?
----------

Complications of properly controlled diabetes.?? I can't think of any. Unless you consider a better quality of life, better health, and longer living and keeping all of your toes, and fingers, and possibly using less or no medications, complications. Nope, in my book, there are none.  (+ info)
