Dermoid cyst on ovary?

OK SO I HAD A DERMOID CYST BEFORE, IT MIGHT BE BACK I AM GOING FOR AN ULTRASOUND ON MONDAY, MY GF JUST FOUND OUT SHE MIGHT HAVE THE SAME THING ON HER LEFT OVARY, CAN WE GET PREG IF WE HAVE THESE CYSTS? EVEN IF WE CAN WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO BE PREGNANT ANDDD HAVE THE CYST?? IM VERY SCARED, TO THE POINT OF TEARS BECUASE OF MY PAST EXPERIENCE WITH THEM, I HAD A C SECTION LIKE SURGERY WITH A 5 INCH LONG CUT ALONG MY ABDOMEN, AND I DONNNNT WANT IT BACK OR TO SEE MY GIRL GO THRU THE SAME THING. ALSO IS THERE ANY WAY TO TAKE CARE OF THE CYST WITHOUT SURGERY??? THANKS GUYS.
----------

Most cysts will resolve themselves on their own. I have had large cysts on my left ovary for 10 years and I've never had surgery. My doctor put me on birth control and that worked for a while until I wanted a baby. Now, I have an organic diet and that has allowed my most recent cysts to resolve themselves. Don't panic just yet. She should be able to get pregnant still she may just have to wait until the cyst is gone. Have her try eating organic as pesticides and hormones in non-organic foods can aggravate cysts or promote new growth.  (+ info)

What does it mean to have a heterogenous area on your cyst? Is it cancer?

I went to the doctor today and had a scan and they gave me a letter to give to my doctor. I opened it up out of curiousity and it read there is a heterogenous area on my right ovary and dermoid cyst. I had to have my left ovary removed many years ago due to a dermoid cyst. So the right one is the only one I have now. What does heterogenous mean?
----------

it basically means multiple, You may have more than one dermoid cyst. I had my left ovary removed in 2002 from a 9cm dermoid cyst. I know how you feel I had a vaginal ultrasound today on my right ovary to find out what the pain is but the tech couldn't tell me so I am waiting on my doctor. Normally dermoid cysts are benign, good luck and don't worry too much, it will make you crazy.  (+ info)

ovarian dermoid cyst?

had surgery in 2009 to remove dermoid cyst on my left ovary. i am now pregnant and found out i have another dermoid on the same ovary. i will most likely get another surgery to remove the cyst, but im thinking about just removing the entire ovary so it doesnt happen again. im worried that this time it may be cancerous.
----------

I had one on my right ovary back in 2005......had the whole ovary and tube removed because the cyst was the size of a cantaloupe and was what the called a complex cyst meaning it had both liquid and solid components. Althougth it was huge it wasn't cancerous but it did contain 2 prefectly formed teeth, sweat glands ,thyroid glands,LOTS of fatty material,LOTS of hair and bits of calcium.....nasty to say the least. My advice is don't be overly concerned, they are almost always benign. Best of luck with your pregnancy! Also I almost forgot to mention, they thought I very likely had it all my life which means through BOTH of my pregnancies and it was never detected for some reason. I always felt like I was "full" and had periods of severe discomfort from it but until I found my present Dr. no one ever took it seriously......Thank God it all turned out okay!  (+ info)

Dermoid cyst in/on the ovary and still got pregnant?

I have been diagnosed with a dermoid cyst and my gyn suggested me to go for a surgery to remove it as it is big (7 cm). i have regular periods and ovulate regularly. This is my 3rd cycle on clomid and i will try for 1 more cycle before going for surgery. Doc says it is 50% chance that i don't conceive because of the dermoid.
My question is does any body had dermoid cyst and still got pregnant? or got pregnant after removing it?
Whatt would be my chances of getting pregnant after removing dermoid? We have been ttc since 2 yrs.
Dermoid cyst is made of hair, fluid, teeth, or skin glands . They usually occur on the face, inside the skull, on the lower back, and in the ovaries.
And this is not a common cyst
thanks Leanne for the response. All other tests are normal for me. and my husband has good sperm count too...

since my doctor said it only 50% chance that dermoid is causing trouble to me getting pregnant.so i am in a question that if i get it removed by surgery, will there be any better chance for me to conceive?

How long will it take to cure them naturally?
----------

Removing a dermoid cyst should not reduce your chances of conception, as the ovary should still work as normal after removal. In some cases it is necessary to remove part of the ovary when removing the cyst (depending on exactly where the cyst is located) but even if this is the case the remaining ovarian tissue should still operate as normal.

For me, surgery is a big step to take, and should only be a last resort. Without treating the underlying cause of the cyst, it is possible that it will come back. Have you considered the natural approach? The holistic treatment approach for ovarian cysts is totally natural, and addresses issues such as diet, your metabolism, and your hormones. If you can get these right, you will get rid of your cyst naturally and forever, without the need for drugs or surgery.

dermoid cyst and pregancy? ultrasound results?

hi has anybody had a dermoid cycst and been pregnant?

on the 18th sept i had a scan as id had pains on my left side and after abit the sonographer said i had a dermoid cycst on my left ovary . at this point i was 4weeks pregnant that day i later found out, anyway wouldnt she of been able to tell from the scan i may be pregnant? like thickness of cervix and could the cyst have been the pregnancy. i had a scan at 6weeks and 8 weeks and they could not see the cyst and its not been seen since on any of my scans ( ive had 4 so far)
my lmp was 13th aug, according to my dating scan i concieved the 4th sept and due 27th may 08.

i am wondering were the cyst has gone if it was there in the first place and plus the lady who did the ultrasound and saw the cyst , it took her ages and didnt seem to interested.

thankyou
question to marmar - so was i already pregnant when i had a scan and they said it was a cyst? at the time of the scan wouldnt there have been signs on the scan that i was pregnant?
----------

The sonographer was probably wrong. The cyst probably looked like a dermoid, but since you are pregnant the cyst was really a corpus luteum cyst. This is a normal cyst that everyone gets in their first trimester of pregnancy. It helps to provide nutrients to the egg while it implants into the uterus. The reason they can't see the cyst anymore is because a corpus luteum will collapse after the egg is implanted into the uterus. Sometime they collapse right away, sometimes they hang around for 12 to 14 weeks, but in the end they all collapse because the placenta is now providing nutrients to the baby and the corpus luteums job is done.  (+ info)

Ovarian dermoid cyst pain?

Little background first. I'm 36. Since I was 16 I've had numerous cysts on my ovaries. In 2004 I had surgery to remove a dermoid cyst from my ovary. About 2 years ago (or maybe a little longer) I was told I had another dermoid. I did not want surgery at the time and was told as long as I could deal with the pain we didn't need to do anything. I've had pain off and on since then and sometimes it's severe but it always passes. Fast forward to yesterday. Out of the blue I started with intense lower back pain spreading around to my hip. There was some side pain too but mostly an intense ache in my back. With my last dermoid the pain got worse and worse over a span of time until I had to have surgery. My question is has anyone else had this happen? It's strange because it just came out of the blue and the pain is different than before. I've read of having an ovary twist (and was hospitalized once because the doctor thought that had happened). Is it possible that it has twisted, just not all the way? I've read that is almost an unbearable pain. My pain now is bearable most of the time as long as I'm still and take 800mg Ibuprofen every 4 hours or so. Also, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this type of pain. Thanks.

what is a dermoid cyst?

I'm concerned about the composition of the cyst. What's inside...
----------

Dermoid cysts contain mature skin tissue with hair follicles and sweat glands. Some of these can contain actual hair, blood, fat, even bone or teeth. The good news is they are always benign (not cancerous). They can look pretty gross, though.  (+ info)

Why do doctors think my 1.5 inch ovarian cyst is too small to remove through surgery?

It's a dermoid cyst. 1.5" is not exactly diminutive.

PMS, Dermoid Cyst, Other Issues?

About 6 weeks ago I had a dermoid cyst removed from my ovary and several other cysts drained. I was having no/sporadic periods prior to removal and almost no PMS for about 5 years. Since it's removal I feel hormonal. Is that possible? And while I got my period on my own (no provera this time) and all the PMS symptoms that come with it, the sore breasts and tiredness has not gone away. Should I be concerned or is this still just hormones? Would cysts have even caused hormonal symptoms?
----------

It would seem the body is trying to balance itself again, now you're not using Provera and have had your cysts removed. You could help your body's hormone balance faster by trying agnus castus herbal tincture.

Dermoid Cyst and Pregnant?

Hi, Im 7 weeks pregnant with my first and had and ultra sound this past weekend.

A dermoid cyst was found on my left ovary, which is actually the ovary I used to ovulate for this pregnancy.

The cyst appears to be benign and shouldnt affect the pregnancy.

I have read that they can rupture, cause infection, or they can twist the ovary and cause great pain.

I have also read where women have had theirs removed in the 2nd trimester.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? Did you have yours removed etc etc?

Thanks in advance.
----------

When i was 9 weeks pregnant they found a dermoid cyst no my ovary too and the lady said not to worry about unless you are in lots of pain. She said it would be fine, just get it removed when you've had the baby. She also said that she has had a lady in there that has had 4 kids and still has her cyst. Good luck  (+ info)
