29 weeks pregnant and contact dermatitis?

This has been aweful. Doc gave me something to get rid of it but how do i keep from getting it again if i dont know what caused it?
Could i have gotten it from hromone changes in pregnancy, because i have never had it before.
----------

It might be that you are more sensitive now then you were before to whatever it was, but figure it's the usual suspects; laundry detergent, lotion, and cleaning supplies and work from there basing it on location of the dermatitis. If you can figure out what it was, but deductive reasoning, you will be far better off.  (+ info)

contact dermatitis from tanning bed?

my doctor told me i have contact dermatitis on some areas of my back most likely from the harsh chemicals they use to clean the tanning bed ive been using... its the only thing ive been using differently. anyway i want to know, since im going to use a stand up tanning bed from now on so i dont touch the surface, will it iritate it if i tan before the bumps are gone? im on medication for it.

thank you
i know the risks of tanning beds and regular sun tanning as well.

I work at a tanning salon and some people are allergic to the chemicals that we use to clean the beds. For those customers we always wipe the bed down with water before they get in so they don't break out. Be careful about eye wear as well because they are cleaned with similar chemicals. I would try to wait till the dermatitis has cleared some. If you don't at least skip the lotion to allow it to dry out. If you have changed lotion recently check that to. It could be causing the irritation.  (+ info)

what do you use to treat contact dermatitis to something like poison ivy? Explain how this works?

Immunology question..
----------

A steroid, such as hydrocortisone. You could apply it to the skin itself (as a cream), or give it as a tablet. Steroids reduce inflammation.

You could also give an anti-histamine. Histamine causes inflammation. These are similar drugs given to people with allergies like hayfever.  (+ info)
