Is contact dermatitis agitated by hot water?

I'm trying to figure out what this rash might be from it seems to go away, but when I take a hot shower it seems to come back with little tiny red dots. What could it be from?
----------

I think it's aggravated by hot water and excessive cleansing. Try a very gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and no harsh rubbing with a wash cloth. A little Cortizone 10, applied very sparingly helped mine, but you may want to see a dermatologist to rule out other skin conditions like lupas .  (+ info)

How long does it take for hives to appear after an allergic contact?

My grandson has recently had hives appear. They did get a new kitten about 1 month ago. Could it be the kitten or possibly another exposure? He also went to a new baby sitter on the day the hives errupted for the first time. He continues to have the hives now even though he isn't going the baby sitter anymore.
----------

hives can appear from thirty minutes to 48 hours after exposure, so I doubt it's the kitten, or he would have had the hives a lot sooner. That he still has them suggests that it is something he is being exposed to currently, hives don't last much more than a week unless the exposure is ongoing.  (+ info)

Contact Dermatitis - What moisturizing cream worked for you?

I have had this on my fingers for months - I clean alot and therefore was using chemicals that my skin didn't agree with. I have since started using gloves whenever in water and all that but would like to see if anyone has used a good cream. And I'm not talking lotions - I mean heavy duty good hand creams. I have been using pure glycerin and then cotton gloves but that hasn't cleared it up. Let me know what worked for you.

Aveeno works great.  (+ info)

I have chronic contact dermatitis, does anyone know of any treatments for when it erupts?

I have been to the Doctor and had patch tests done but they all seem to be useless and the doctors aren't listening to me when I explain what’s happening. I don’t know what is causing it, but i need something in the mean time to help with the pustules, sores, crusting and weeping. it’s really painful. Please someone help!
----------

skin ailments are the most frustrating conditions because they are difficult to treat, they often have psychological reasons or are due to allergies or -none wants to hear that- a genetic predisposition.

My advice:
1) try to get a specialized dermatologist to see you when the problem is apparent.
2) avoid all possible irritants/allergenic materials from fabric softener to textiles.
3) avoid allergenic food
4) make sure that you are in good health overall and do not stress too much, stress affects your skin more than you'd know

5) make sure your skin is well moisturized. Use a dermatological moisturizer. Your skin is much more likely to be sensitive when it is dry. For a similar problem -that was very painful with bleeding, sores etc.- I used vaseline and I stopped using commercial soap [I use a pharmaceutical liquid cleaner that is more expensive but more gentle with my skin, you can find a variety of similar stuff at your drugstore].

Maybe your problem is more serious than mine but for me, as long as I make sure that my skin is well moisturized and never gets dry it is perfectly healthy. It sounds too simple, I know, and I never believed I could solve my horrid looking sores by vaseline but it happened. At times I looked at my skin -at my arms- and I was sure it would never look normal again and now none would know I had this problem.

Give it a go.   (+ info)

Have contact Dermatitis on eyebrows and near lids and to the side of eyes?

I have been told by My Dr that something I have been in contact with has produced this horrible rash. I have wracked my brains as to what I have been in contact with! Dr has given me Canesten Hydrocortisone which just made it irritate, then Daktacort ointment which didn't work, still irritates like hell. I am using Oilatum Emollient cream and wash He did say it could be coming from within meaning a virus in my body. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this the itching is driving me mad and I look like i've been in a fight, its also at the sides of my nose at the very top. Any ideas please.

I don't care whether it is you or a friend. I have been a nurse for 45 years and I will let you in on something that is not common knowledge. It is very possible that you are allergic to his sperm, I don't like being that bold as I feel like this is your business, but it is a very distinct possibility,, I make the suggestion that you make a visit to your doctor or have you friend go see the doctor.  (+ info)

Is it pink eye or am i just allergic to my contact solution?

I was recently diagnosed with Pink Eye (bacterial). The thing is, it keeps reoccuring and I think I was misdiagnosed. I've done everything--antibiotics, washed everything, etc. and no one else got it from me either. My symptoms are red, burning, itching, watering eyes and it will start one day and be gone the next, I don't get it. I use Opti-Free contact solution also, has anyone had problems with this product? If so, what are some other high quality contact solutions?
----------

Yeah, conjunctivitis is extremely common. I've had it and it's absolutely no fun.

I would probably discontinue the contacts for few days. Let your eyes breathe and suffer your glasses. Do you use the daily disposable ones? That might be better since they're changed constantly.

Good luck and feel better.  (+ info)
