How to get rid of contact dermatitis?

I am allergic to the metal in all belts, which is a bad thing cause I have to wear one, so I have contact dermatitis on my stomach. I have tried different things such as tucking in an under shirt and using band aids (which I am also allergic to :( ) but it wont seem to go away. I would rather not go to the doctor again for it so can anyone tell me a good way to get rid of it?

you can use a bit of cortisone for the inflamation. Have you tried clear nail polish painted on all the metal parts?  (+ info)

How can I treat Allergic Contact Dermatitis on my face?

I'm 14 and my aunt bought me the Clinique 3-Step Kit. I used it about twice. A day or so later a noticed a rash appearing in the areas that I used it. It got worse as more and more hours went by. I researched this on the internet and found that I have Allergic Contact Dermatitis. My face is so red and puffy and itchy that I am too embarrassed to show my face in public. I'm scared to go to school and sometimes refer my face to my family as a tomato. I've tried cortisone cream but it doesn't sink into my skin. o_o; Not sure if its supposed to sink in or not. I've heard ProActiv works on this, but I need a fast remedy because my mom says I can't keep missing school. Can someone tell me a remedy that works quickly and how long it should take? I'm really sick of this and I really want my aunt to get a refund from Clinique, but again I'm too embarrassed to go in public looking the way I do. Someone help me please! D:
----------

OH, no, don't use ProActiv -- it will irritate it. Put a cold compress or an ice-cold washcloth against the irritated areas, and then when the skin has cooled down, dust the area with medicated Gold Bond powder. It's a very fast remedy that works for me.

Definitely get a refund from Clinique! You may be allergic to the soap (too drying), the toner (could be too drying as well, and some of the toners have menthol, which will irritate sensitive facial skin), or the moisturizer (which is chock-full of mineral oil). Good luck!  (+ info)

I have allergic contact dermatitis?

what could cause an allergic reaction to extreme heat or cold when I go outside? Just the air itself??
----------

Your reaction can be from a million different things. Contact dermatitis doesn't nessecarily mean that you physically have come in contact with something. You could inhale, ingest, or touch said item to have a reaction.
Air quality with all the pollutants we breath in everyday changes as much as the weather does. Watch the air quality or smog levels and take note of how still or windy that day is....  (+ info)

Can one get contact dermatitis from animals?

I just got a puppy and I don't know if my allergic reaction is to her or maybe something else. Apparently the only way to get rid of contact dermatitis is to get rid of the allergen, and I really don't want to give her away :'(
----------

If by dermatitis, you mean an itchy rash... it is possible that you have scabies. I've gotten it from a puppy a couple of times. A cream will clear it up, but if it is scabies, you'll need to treat the dog for the mange as well. Or the rash will continue to come back. I'm allergic to dogs, but my reaction has never been a rash, only sneezing and some slight breathing problems. Your best bet is to go to the doctor, because there may be no need to get rid of the puppy. Sorry if this does not help. : )  (+ info)

Does anyone know how to prevent contact dermatitis?

I recently developed an allergy to metals. After 3 years of wearing my platinum ring with no problem..i noticed an allergic reaction on my finger this summer. I left the ring on thinking it would go away if i kept it dry. Needless to say it got very bad. I eventually took the ring off for it too heal and used hydrocortisone cream. In about a month it diminished but the skin remains rough. I wore my ring 24/7 only removing it to clean it for 3years, and now I can't wear it for more than a few hours w/o the breakout. Any remedies to treat or prevent this besides not wearing my wedding ring?
----------

Your body has been sensitized to the metal. It may go away with time.  (+ info)

Allergic contact dermatitis?

I have a confirmed case of this on my on vulvar skin. It itches like worst than anything you could imagine when it's active. There is not test to really determine what I am allergic to as I know of and I have stopped using any products with dyes or purfumes and cotton, loose fitting clothing and everything else.

The only think i have found to help prevent flare ups is a extremely strong steroid cream. Does anyone know what will kill this itching or help. I've tried everything i know of over the counter and under... Or something that helps... anything really I am in misery.
----------

Have you tried a warm bath with either baking soda or oatmeal?...Messy I know , but it does soothe. If you can, try to minimize wearing underwear at all while at home. Use an extra large t shirt and of course, don't bend over too much. I know it sounds silly, but anything is better than the itching.  (+ info)

What sunscreen can I use without getting contact dermatitis?

I get really bed exzema and contact dermatitis every time I use sunscreen. Does anyone know of one that I can use and not get this painful rash on my face? I can't skip sunscreen because I burn easily on my face which is just as bad. So please help!! I can't just stay inside for the whole summer!
----------

New SunClear from Grahams Natural Alternatives protects the skin from the sun and provides added moisture as well. The perfect choice for all skin types including those with eczema and psoriasis. You could also try the more natural based sunscreens such as those from Green People and Lavera.
All sunscreens give protection against B rays; some also protect against A rays. The sun protection factor (SPF) tells you the extent to which the sunscreen filters out the B rays. The higher the SPF, the greater the degree of protection. SPF’s range from 2 up to 50, but someone with very fair skin or who has eczema that worsens in sunlight should use a cream with a factor of 15 or above.  (+ info)
