Dental Caries- Pain?

5 days ago, I had a cavity drilled and filled. Before, I had absolutely zero pain. They said it was "very deep" and close to the pulp (after they drilled it). Since, I have been having a lot of pain in that tooth when I chew (cannot bite down hard, doesn't hurt when it's just chilling.) The first day the whole thing hurt a lot even when I wasn't chewing.
Anyway, what is wrong?? I am very nervous. What could be causing this? Thank you so much for your help!

1. wisdom teeth NOT removed, bottom ones (i think, or maybe top) are impacted
2. problem tooth is 6-year-molar, top right of mouth
3. have had two teeth pulled (on bottom i think)
4. had braces about 4 years ago
----------

It's time to revisit the dentist and have the tooth checked. There are any number of things that can cause it to hurt- something as simple as the filling being "short" to having it not seal entirely. It may also have set off the nerves of the tooth, and you may be looking at needing a root canal. But it will take a dental exam to tell you exactly what the malfunction is, and what fix is needed. It may even be related to those wisdom teeth- but only the dentist can tell for sure. It's okay, sometimes it just happens.  (+ info)

I'm a Dentist from the Philippines.I'm looking for a job related in Western Dental?

I graduated at the University of the East, College of Dentistry in the year 1996. I am currently working in the Local Government in the Municipality of Cainta province of Rizal, Philippines for more than 9 years now. I render my services to indigent constituent of our town from high caries pre-schoolers to periodontal cases of adults which lead to extraction. My work really inspired me to relate to people of their needs. I want to do more, a different level perhaps.

Western Dental in California or Arizona or anywhere in the USA or Canada will require all documents to be transferable
Unfortunately, most from the non-western countries (asian) are not
My aunts are all respectable doctors in China & Vietnam, but are not allowed to practice in the US or Canada without redoing all of their schooling again by North American standards
I would inquire about the necessary requirements for the position you seek and determine whether you have them and if they transfer over
Its a hard path, good luck  (+ info)

Where can i find cheap dental work in Southern California?

I'm under the age of 18 and my parents have horrible dental insurance. Their dental insurance covers less than 10%. I need to find a place that has rather cheap dental work, but not at a dental school. (I need a lot of work done). Thanks.

I would also recommend Mexico because ive been, although like anywhere else you must do your due dilligence.
and get recommendations before you decide.I managed to save around 90% of what it would have cost me.
I had 28 top quality porcelain caps/crowns at a cost of $2400
Quite a saving on the $36,000 i was quoted at home.

A question for all dental professionals?

Would you think that the use of dental bleaching trays at night might help to retain "some" of the moisture on the teeth, or enough to be of help, aiding in the reduction of dental caries associated with patients who suffer with dry mouth due to medical conditions or medications they take? I'm curious as to the response I'll get with this question, thank you all in advance!
I'm just asking for thoughts on this, any suggestions to a revised stint, or any comments. So tell me if you think this concept could be of any help, and any type of solutions that might be of use if this could possibly be of any help with the effects of dry mouth in regard to dental caries. Dr. Sam, I would appreciate your opinion on this. I look forward to reading any remarks given.
What about any patients who may have reported increased saliva production when wearing mouth guards or bleaching stints? I have not read any articles or reports to confirm this might be of help. I'm in a debate over this, and I don't like to lose, especially when I think I'm right. Although, I may have missed something, but I have no knowledge of any studies made or any dental reports on it?
Yes, I would also think so.
I would also think that the use of "trays" without any solutions, would cause dry mouth to be possibly even more severe.
----------

I agree with toothdoc. Ideas of things you could do to help would be to brush more often with soft bristle brush and a sensitive toothpaste (like sensodyne), and use a topical fluoride at home (dentists can prescribe these to patients). There are saliva substitutes that can be used, the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Salivart. It is difficult to duplicate saliva and it is probably something that people wouldn't even think could be a big deal.

I wish you (or the person with this condition) the best.  (+ info)

What is the difference between the Dental Assisting I and the Dental Assisting II course?

I'd like to go to school to become a dental assistant but noticed there are courses for 'Dental Assistant I' and 'Dental Assistant II'. Which is the better one to take?
----------

You don't have to take the second level, but if you do, you get to do more things like polishing people's teeth, take impressions (for mouth guards and whitening trays), you get to learn how to place a rubber dam on people, and in some places you get to apply temporarily fillings, apply sealants, and other things. This means that you will have more responsibility in the dental office.

Unlike with just taking level 1, you must take an exam at the end of your course with an examination board in order to practice your level 2 skills. The Canadian board is the NDAEB http://www.ndaeb.ca/

Also I forgot to mention that level 2 assistants usually get paid about 2-3 dollars more an hour.  (+ info)
