I have stopped drinking 5 days ago... I have never been real hard core with drinking. I have done binge drinking for 5-6 months at a time drinking daily sometimes, but mostly every other day.

I feel kinda ok today, just feel mentally fuzzy, nervous and weak feeling?

Should I be concerned about delirTremain'smens?
There's no way to know but if you're not a late stage alcoholic, you most likely will not get the DTs. I know middle stage alcoholics who can quit days on end without feeling anything but irritability and cravings. Hopefully, you'll be okay. Like you said, you aren't hard core (I assume you mean you don't have a drinking problem?). Feeling mentally fuzzy and nervous is normal. Also, the DTs start much sooner than 5 days.

I understand that delirium is often accompanied by language disturbance and loss of clear and coherent thought. I am writing a story about it and would like to know examples of statements or thoughts that someone with delirium would say or think.
Haven't your professors told you to "Write what you know"- or at least have seen...go volunteer at a soup kitchen or someplace were you take care of alcoholics, and see for yourself.  (+ info)

What do I do about Delirium Tremens? I am a scared.?

I have been a habitual alcohol abuser for a long time. This current binge of 1 pint of whiskey and 7 beers every night for the last 5 months needs to end but I am afraid of Delirium Tremens. Any suggestions? Thank you.
As a nurse my recommendation would be that you need to be admitted to the hospital to do this. With your alcohol history you are at high risk of having withdrawl seizures. In my opinion alcohol withdrawls are probably the worst drug to come off of. It is NOT something you should attempt on your own. Most hospitals have a protocol with specific orders to assist you with these symptoms. A dose range of tranquilizers like ativan or librium will be used over a period of 2-4 days that will minimize DT's and seizures. After you are considered "medically stable" you will need to get into an outpatient recovery program. Good luck and I hope this helps.  (+ info)

You are in a bad way. The DTs is one of the symptoms of being an alcoholic.

Large amounts of alcohol reduce your magnesium levels and that is the cause of the tremors or the shakes. You should take a magnesium supplement every day to boost your magnesium levels.

After a few drinks, of course, you are steady as a rock but the moment you sober up you will get the DTs again.

how many calories are in a pint of the belgium beer delirium tremens?

Who cares, the beer is delicious and consider it a treat! It's definitely not a beer you're going to drink a lot of on a regular basis.

Also, a quick internet search showed the calorie listing as being unknown on most sites I found. A homebrewed clone recipe of that beer was calculated to be over 600cal/litre. I think a bottle is 750ml, so that would be over 450cal/liter. It's a full bodied belgium beer, so its definitely not going to be a "diet" drink.

Does anyone have a good Delirium Tremens clone recipe?

I found two:
One calls for pilsen DME, and wheat DME, seeds of paradise, ginger, and coriander.

The second calls for Golden Light DME, and seeds of paradise.

What would you add to a DT clone???
It's been a while since I've had DT but I don't recall detecting much of the spicing they mentioned, at least not more than I would attribute a healthy dose of yeast. Wheat also seems out of place, I can see the flavor I just never really knew/expected that it was part of the grain bill so perhaps you can add some.

I'd go for something like this (off the top of my head)...

~8lbs of Pilsener DME
~2lbs of Belgian Candy Sugar, light in color
~1lbs of Cara 20 GRAIN

Steep the Cara 20 for 15 minutes then boil the remaining ingredients per the usual.

1oz Saaz at 45minutes
1/2oz Saaz at 20 minutes
1/2oz Saaz at Knockout

Wyeast 3522 or 1388.  (+ info)
