FAQ - Decalcification, Pathologic
(Powered by Yahoo! Answers)

Why are the pathologic conditions peritonitis, pleurisy, and pericarditis all accompanied by pain?

In medical terms anything that ends in '-itis' means swelling. So with swelling comes pain.
Pleurisy is swelling and fluid on the pleura of the lung lining which is a step down from pneumonia.
Hope this helps and have a great day/night.

I have braces and a yellow mark on my second tooth. Tartar or decalcification? It's not white but yellow?

It's not surrounding the bracket but closer to the join between the second and front tooth. It has been hard to clean there as the area is obscured by the wire.

will whitening my teeth get rid of small cases of decalcification?

if not are their any solutions to getting rid of it? its very tiny but it still bothers me.

Try the Crest White Strips before you try anything else. Lots of people use those after having braces on and it's fantastic. Good luck and SMILE!  (+ info)

Can tooth decalcification be corrected?

I've had braces for 2 1/2 years. For the 1st year, I didn't brush/floss them as much as I should have. Now I'm noticing large white patches (decalcification) around the brackets on my front teeth and I'm freaking out. Is there any way I can fix that after I get my braces off?
----------

Yes, decalcification can actually be reversed. ACT fluoride mouthwash is great for that, you should use it everyday anyway. Still visit with your dentist about this, but go get some ACT in the meantime and keep with it. Also, many ortho patients require bleaching after getting braces off because of the natural stains and discolorations that occur while wearing them, so you might even need this at some point if it still worries you later on. Good luck!  (+ info)

tooth craze and decalcification?

I have a large vertical craze on my front tooth. Is there anything you can do to hide these lines besides veneers, because I can't afford those. Also is there anyway to eliminate decalcification of the teeth. I have one tooth that is bothering me because it looks weird and has a white patch near the gum line and covering half the tooth. Is this decalcification or tartar, any ideas? It doesn't hurt at all just looks weird. Would whitening help?
i have a dentist and a cleaning in 9 days!

can the myocardial hypertrophy be recovered if the pathologic stress is reliefed??

Not really, it's called "starlings law" basically it says if you stretch a rubber band and hold it for a long period, it loses it's elasticity. The heart muscle is the same, however, there are medications that can increase contractility and improve cardiac output.  (+ info)

are the spots from decalcification (teeth) permanent?

i'm 14, i have braces, and i've notice discolored sections of my teeth, mainly the front ones, around the brackets. i've looked into it and i'm pretty sure it's decalcification. are those spots permanent or are there ways i can get rid of them (once the braces are off) without paying a ton of money? also i've heard that bleaching doesn't work; it just whitens all of it but doesn't equal out the whiteness
----------

They will have to be fixed by the dentist if you and he deem it necessary. You are right about the bleaching not working.  (+ info)
