Is it possible to have larger erections after quitting smoking?

This is a serious question.
I quit smoking at New Years, cold turkey and successful.
My umm.. female partner... claims to have observed that I have larger erections after quitting smoking. It makes sense in a way due to the constriction of blood vessels and whatnot.
If anyone with more knowledge could elaborate, I would appreciate it.
It truly does not matter, because I am larger than average and quite happy. Still, I find this fascinating.
----------

Yeah, I'm larger than average too... and it takes a lot of blood flow to fill up the big monsters like ours. Smoking can really hinder your cardio vascular system, and keep the big ones from getting fully inflated.  (+ info)

what causes pulmonary artery constriction?

thanks for helping! :)
----------

Well first of all, pulmonary artery constriction is a secondary symptom.

Blood travels from the right side of the heart through the pulmonary arteries into the lungs. Then, carbon dioxide is removed from the blood and oxygen is added. Normally, the pressure in the pulmonary arteries is low, allowing the right side of the heart to be less muscular than the left side Also, the left side of the heart is more muscular because it has to push blood through the entire body against a much higher pressure.

If the pressure of the blood in the pulmonary arteries increases to a sufficiently high level, the condition is called pulmonary hypertension. With pulmonary hypertension, the right side of the heart must work harder to push the blood through the pulmonary arteries into the lungs.

Heart murmur was thought to be a cause at one time, but is the consequence of the condition.  (+ info)

How can I remove my extreme shyness?

I admit. I do have pathologic shyness. Pathologic because it already affects my ordinary living. I am extremely shy whenever I am with new acquaintances. I am afraid of their thinking and assessment of me. I am so shy. And my shyness gets worse when they notice that I am shy. When I talk I mumble. When I smile I don't open my mouth fully. I am so shy.. How can I be cured of this illness?
----------

You may have social anxiety, which is more than 'just being shy'. If you feel your shyness is a major stumbling block and you avoid situations and people and generally keep to yourself, you may need some help.
You can also try some methods like hypnosis or self hypnosis that should put you on the right track to wellness. But the first thing is to see a specialist and get a proper diagnosis.  (+ info)

throat constriction??

So, very recently my throat has been feeling really constricted. It's at very random times. Its weird, It's like randomly in the middle of the day i'll notice that my throat feel's weird. I wouldn't exactly call it constriction, because it's not any harder to swallow, it just feels weird when I do. It feels like the area around my throat is swollen or something..I know it's probably nothing serious but what does it sound like?
I also have a stuffy nose and stuffy head, if that makes sense.
----------

You could have a slight cold or a sinus infection. The swelling you notice may be inflammation of the lymph nodes at the base of the jaw.
If this gets worse or more bothersome, you may need some antibiotics to help combat the infection. Consult your doctor if things don't get better by the first of next week.
I hope you feel better soon, God bless.  (+ info)

Suddenly shortness of breath while running?

I run religious; however, suddenly I've been experiencing some kind of respiratory constriction especially while running. I'm not experiencing a constant cough or a great discharge of phlegm, but it is uncomfortable to breath deeply. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

get it checked out quick! it could be DVT and a clot stuck in your lungs - google this.  (+ info)

How do you know if you really have asthma? It seems to be a catchall for any breathing problem.?

I saw a doctor for my chest tightness and he said I probably have asthma. I'm young and in good health. I don't wheeze, I don't cough a lot, it is not related to exercise. I just feel like I can't take a deep breath sometimes, and in certain positions, like when lifting something heavy overhead, I feel more constriction. But my real question is, how do I know if asthma is actually causing my problem? The doctor seems unsure, and I don't want to take meds for the rest of my life, just because it's the doc's best guess. Has anyone else had this problem?
----------

Go to WebMD and assess your symptoms and see if they line up with what your doctor said and what your having. I have Asthma and it's not the end of the world. I don't take medication everyday or everyother day. Sometimes allergies can trigger asthma or asthma type symptoms. If you can see a ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor to see if you have seasonal allergies. Remember that asthma is not a problem that you can choice to take or not take your medication. If you do have asthma it means that durning an attack that your lungs are not getting the air it needs to function..this can damage your lungs and you could die. Please take it seriously and do your research so that you can make a better informed decision about your health.  (+ info)

Slight breathing constriction for past 2.5 weeks?

Now I put SLIGHT because this is something I live with. I have had it for 2 and a half weeks, but probably much much worse towards the beggining of it. Sometimes it is accompanied by a very slight feeling in the chest. Please do not tell me to go to the ER--I have had this already for 2 and a half weeks, and have been to the doctor probably 4 times already and they cant seem to find anything wrong with me; Also they have done tests on the heart, lungs, and blood too and didnt find anything wrong. This is something that comes and goes throughout the day also. Just wondering if anyone has ever had anything similar to this.

And I also have a complete physical tommorow with my regular physician so hopefully that might help a bit.

Thanks for your help.
----------

Do you mean it feels like presure or a squeezing , kinda like it hurts to breathe? just wondering cause I have that and no one can tell me either , I had all test ran and even had my gallbladder removed and still have chest tightness and it's hard to get my breathe and no one has a clue? just wondering and good luck  (+ info)

What are the possible causes of low BP? do the blood vessels dilate causing a drop in pressure?

If constriction of blood vessels causes high BP then is there a possiblity of blood vessels dilating to cause a drop in BP? If you have very low BP but suffer from no outward symptoms can it be a reason to worry?
thnx RMB ...... i am F 42 slim, active and drink loads of water. my last recorded BP was 80/ nothing..... but i walked to the doctors clinic and walked back.
----------

Without knowing anything about you (age, gender, weight, etc) or how low your blood pressure gets, it's hard to give you a concrete answer. With that being said, it's basically impossible to have too low a blood pressure unless you are symptomatic - which you are not. Harmful causes of low blood pressure would include systemic infection or autonomic abnormalities. Again, that doesn't sound like you either.

Unless you become symptomatic (persistent lightheadedness, passing out or visual changes), try not to worry and consider yourself blessed to have such great blood pressure!  (+ info)
