Does My Dad Have Obsessive-compulsive Personality Disorder(ocpd)?

Ok, he likes to hoard in useless items into the house which he thinks is useful. He likes to organize his letters. He yells at at me when something is imperfect. He yells at me when my bed linen isn't straight. He is reluctant to pay $2 in tips, rather he pays $1.50 in tips.

OMG, HELP! Is this Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder??

Is it Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder
when you get so annoyed when you hear grammatical errors in a person's speech?? In this world, would there be such people?? Or is my bf only like this??? I don't think this kind of OCPD is common though... But is it possible?? Or is my bf just ...like....ill in some other way??
----------

OCD is when u have to do certain things, like checking to make sure the windows and doors r locked every five minutes even though u did it five minutes be4 and u know that they r locked. If someone were to prevent u from preforming this task, u would have anxiety and panic attacks. Ur boyfriend is sick in another way. Does he just get annoyed or does he have full scale rages where he wants to cause the speaker physical harm?  (+ info)

How Did "Obsessive Compulsive PERSONALITY Disorder" Get Its Name?

There is something that i have never understood about Obsessive Compulsive PERSONALITY Disorder (i put that in all caps because i know a lot of people will think i mean OCD) is why it has that name. If OCPD is not related to OCD, why did they put the "Obsessive Compulsive" part its name? Doesn't that just make it confusing as hell?

I know the difference between the two disorders, i just have no clue why they named it Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. Does anyone know?
----------

I think its because OCPD is pervasive in almost all aspects of that persons personality.

whereas with OCD the persons personality is normal they just have an overwhelming urge to be compulsive in a few specific ways.  (+ info)

If someone has obsessive-compulsive personality disorder how to socialize with people?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocpd
----------

I have OCD. Been hospitalized for it for a month twice.

The good news is I've now been successfully treated, through medication and a (relatively) new behavior therapy.

I'm leading a normal life, and can socialize as I please.

You'll need to work on that to begin with, but in the meantime you can contact a therapist for treatment and to find out about groups to gather with, and you can go online for chat rooms and the like, and strike up relationships of that type.

Good luck. If you work, you can't lose.  (+ info)

I think I have Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. Please Help?

Upon answering one of my questions, someone on Answers suggested that I might have Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder.

I looked at the description in the DSM IV and it fits me well. I now feel like I completely understand my problems.

However, I am kind of depressed and feel like a leper or defective person if I truly have this personality disorder. I dont' want to see a psychiatrist because I don't want to be labeled as mentally ill.

What do I do? What do you think of this disorder? Do you think people with it are "crazy" Please help me.

I also have OCD because I know I have obsessions and compulsions. I think I have both disorders. Is that common?

PLEASE HELP.

Obsessive-compulsive deletion, no relation whatsoever to OCD, is a disorder characterized by extraordinary obsession with compulsory deletion of content even if someone reads it (and actually finds it funny).

You are considered suffering from this disorder if you have the urge to delete OR leave thumbs down!

Dealing with Roommate with Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder?

I recently moved into an apartment with a classmate, who I have come to realize has Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. I know this, because I talked to a friend, who happens to be a therapist. My roommate is obsessed with cleanliness- if a couple dishes are in the sink, she makes sure to wash them immediately. She is extremely stingy with her money as well..everytime we go out to eat, she obsesses about how much tip she should leave, and will never round up. She obsesses over things that happened literally 20-some-odd years ago, and little things that most people would let slide, or forget about almost immediately. She is cheap, will not get anything at all for the kitchen- and when she does, it has to be very inexpensive/poor quality. If she is not on time somewhere, she gets very anxious, to the point where I just tell her to go ahead and leave without me, because I do not want to be subject to her obsession of being early everywhere she goes. I am very easy going and respectful of people's opinions/ but she is the direct opposite. She makes lists for everything, and she even writes down everything she spends, how much, etc., for an entire month (as though a bank statement weren't enough). It is really starting to frustrate me and stress me out. I don't know how I could possibly deal with her behavior. I might give it a few months, and maybe break my portion of the lease (landlord only requires a 30-day notice). In the meantime, how can I deal with my roommate, who without a doubt, has OCPD?

How likely is it that someone could have Narcissistic, Antisocial AND Obessive-Compulsive personality disorder?

Would it be reasonable to think that someone could suffer from all 3 of these:

Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

How likely could it be that someone has all 3.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlOj1mRzdWS0NCckwqLCXI4azKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20090402203930AABA23j I just posted another question pertaining to this person, if you would like to read the details and make your own conclusions but I'm thinking all 3. :/ I'm no expert though.
----------

Yes it can be likely.
I have:
Paranoia Schizophrenia
Bipolar
DID

A mixture of problems I have, and have been diagnosed with all three, but with those I also have PTSD, Panic Disorder, and other disorders...
So it can be likely.  (+ info)

Ok, So I have got OCPD. Obsessive–compulsive personality disorder, :) Help.....?

But honestly i don't see it as a problem, more of an easier way to make sure everything's under control and running steady? Although it can make my thoughts fuzzy and make me a little confuzed with choice! But, do i really have to worry about this?

thanks

OCPD (as opposed to OCD, which is aa different disorder - dont confuse them) tends to cause more problems in how you deal with other people, and how they perceive you, tthanfor yourself. where it impacts most is on potential friendships - the OCPD sufferer will, usually unknowingly, demand a level of perfection from the other person in a friendship that isn't rrealisticallyachievable, while not giving much back into the friendship themselves. OCPD sufferers tend to have demanding and eexacting standards in almost every area of their life, and these strongly held beliefs tend to be defended at any cost, even if the dispute is over something relative trivial.

In short, while everyone llikesto feel liek their in contorl of their own life, you have to be careful that you're not also attemtpting to control everyone else's around you, even if you feel that they're doing something particular the "wrong" way.  (+ info)

Does having obsessive compulsive personality disorder give somebody the right to be a complete bitch?

I am a livie in nanny who has been living with a dragon lady from hell for the last two years, I just found out that she has a personality disorder (duh). Does this justify the outragous amount of abuse she puts everyone through? This is a serious question please shed some light on this is it the disorder or is she just a bitch?
She's rude and wont even acknowledge people. She's made repeted comments about hispanics knowing that I am Mexican, she will lose it if the place is not sparkling clean, yet on my days off the place is ussually a mess until she can get to it. If I buy designer jeans she has to go out and buy four pairs of the same jean. She'll remind me of how she stays thin by only having cofee everytime she sees me eating, god forbid I eat a big mac in front of her.
----------

I don't feel there's any excuse for bad behavior. I lived with a woman once with OCD. Whenever I left my purse on the table, and go to my room, when I cam back, my purse was gone. She had "cleaned it up". She was the meanest person I have ever met, but then sometimes she was just the opposite, really, really nice. She crossed the line when she verbally abused my son and made him cry. I no longer have contact with her.  (+ info)
