Is sex (oral, anal, vaginal) the only way a person can get chlamydia?

I know chlamydia is a bacterial infection, can a person get it from other sources than sex? Mainly, can an existing UTI give you chlamydia?
----------

Dear Mom2be:

Chlamydia is a very common sexually transmitted disease. Chlamydia can be transmitted during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. But it can also be passed from an infected mother to her baby during vaginal childbirth. Left untreated it can harm your reproductive organs, causing irreversible damage, including infertility. It can be a "silent" disease, often doing damage before a woman even knows she has it. Chlamydia also can cause discharge from the penis of an infected man.

Because the cervix (opening to the uterus) of teenage girls and young women is not fully matured and is probably more susceptible to infection, they are at particularly high risk for infection if sexually active. Since chlamydia can be transmitted by oral or anal sex, men who have sex with men are also at risk for chlamydial infection.

An existing UTI cannot give you chlamydia.  (+ info)

How long should I wait after treating chlamydia to have sex again?

Because I was on here asking some questions and I was told that even without the meds your body is still fighting infection. So how long should I wait until I take my last set of pills before I do something again.
----------

After you AND your partner are completly done with your medkication.  (+ info)

Chlamydia, how long does it take to clear up?

Okay so after taking the pills to get rid of chlamydia how long until the infection is gone, completely?
Okay so will i still get the symptoms though?
----------

Remember to take all your meds. It will take a couple of days to start working. Really your partner has to be treated too. Make sure you go back for a recheck. Some meds will cause you to get a yeast infection as well.  (+ info)

Im 19, keep having different vaginal infections, its been over a year?

yes i have gone to the dr many times over this. ive gotten all sorts of tests including chlamydia screening. Yes i am sexually active, and my fiance and i havent been using protection...we will soon (got the nuva ring). i have had almsit every type of vaginal infection and have been given all kinds of antibiotics. gels. etc. ive followed instructions....why does sex still hurt? why does it smell down there? why has this infection not gone away?
----------

Has your finance been tested for any type of infection. (BV specifically)

There is one infection, Bacterial Vaginosis that can be passed back and forth between partners.
This doesn't mean that your finance has been unfaithful -
This BV infection can be one difficult infection to eradicate.
And a lot of women , who aren't even sexually active can get this BV infection.
But when one has it , it can be constantly passed back and forth -between sexually active partners.
A lot of doctors reccomend that the man be tested and given a course of antibiotics, if he does have this BV
type infection.
Hope this helps.  (+ info)

When is it safe to have sex after using azithromycin to treat chlamydia?

Nine days after my partner and I were treated we had sex and our condom broke. Is it possible that we could be passing the infection to one another?
Our treatment was one round of azithromycin, which was just two pills. Planned parenthood said to not engage in intercourse for a 7 day period....
----------

It takes about 10 weeks to cure chlamydia if given the right prescription. During the duration of treatment you should ABSTAIN from having sex.
You stated that after the ninth day you guys engaged in sexual activities which is one day less than the prescribed treatment period, i don't think that is a big issue but you should make an appointment with your doctor for a check up just to be on the safe side so the infection doesn't occur again.  (+ info)

How does chlamydia infect the penis?

I know its through unprotected vaginal sex but how exactly. Does the vaginal fluids "seep" through the head or travel down the urethrea and cause the infection there?
----------

It probably travels through the urethra.  (+ info)

If treated with azithromycin how long until chlamydia is cleared?

On thursday, Sept 17, me and my boyfriend were given azithromycin to kill the infection. A week later on friday Sept 25, we had sex. We did use a condom but it broke, and we stopped there. Azithromycin kills the infection within 7 days or less. Should we be okay?
----------

yeah, you should do fine.  (+ info)

Can Chlamydia be confused for anything else?

I have symptoms for chlamydia, could it possible just be an infection? or anything else?
----------

Sure, it could possibly be a UTI, but that would be very unlikely if you have a discharge of some sort. Pain with urination also can be confused from a UTI and a STD. If you have had unprotected sex, and your sketchy about the whole thing, tell someone close to you and just go get checked at the doctors of Family Planning. Its not worth the time if you do have something. Good luck.  (+ info)
