How to reduce/get rid of chills (with a fever)?

I have had a fever for the past 2 days.

I went to the doctor and got some antibiotics, but they haven't helped with the fever.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of these annoying chills? They've gotten to the point where I'm violently shaking.
----------

a fever has three phases, the onset (chill phase), the best thing you can do to remain comfortable is to put on more clothes, and cover up with a blanket ( i am sure you are already doing so) then you have the phase where you are hot, and of course you want to keep your clothes dry, and make sure you stay cool. then there is the termination, where you have no fever.

other than that i would say take some tylenol and try to keep warm, depending on what is causing your fever will determine how long you will have it. so for now, try to keep warm!  (+ info)

Why do I get chills after giving Reiki treatment? Does this happen to anyone else?

After giving Reiki treatments I experience chills. Not normal chills from being cold, its cold from the inside out! It takes me a couple of hours to shake it off. What does this mean? I always ground myself and run my hands under water after giving treatments to get the energies off of me.
----------

You may want to surround & protect yourself with the white light of Reiki before you begin a treatment. Also, don't forget to prepare the room by placing a power symbol on all four walls, floor and ceiling and one large power symbol on yourself before you begin. Also, look at what's happening during the Reiki session. I know that if I'm working a certain 'being of light' during a session I tend to get chills momentarily. Try meditating on your experience and ask for guidance, then follow you intuition. Remember, Reiki should benefit both you and the client, therfore you shouldn't have any unpleasant feelings during or after a session. In Light.  (+ info)

Why do my chills and vomiting always come together?

I'm really worried I 'm going to be sick because I have a slight fever and feeling nauseous. Whenever I have vomiting I get chills and visa versa, why is that? I wonder if it's because I have a super super weak gag reflex. What do you think?
----------

Allison, I hope you didn't throw up.

Vomiting and chills are often symptoms of the same viruses. If the only time you ever vomit is when you get that virus, then you're doing OK because there are a lot of other things that make people throw up that don't cause chills.

You can prevent vomiting with Pepto-Bismol or Dramamine.  (+ info)

Does having the chills mean that you are coming down with the flu?

I experienced the chills with a runny nose, slight headache, and a scratchy throat, however, I did not get a fever. What could this mean?
----------

Whenever you get chills, you normally have a fever. Your other symptoms sound like symptoms of a cold or the flu, however if you have the flu you definitely would have a fever. So if you don't have a fever, you probably just have a cold.  (+ info)

Are cold chills and dizziness and flushed cheeks normal when taking metformin?

I just started taking metormin for polycystic ovaries. It is to see if mabe I am insulin resistant and that is why I have so many problems losing weight. I just started taking the medication 5 days ago and i get random cold chills I get dizzy often, and my cheeks are flushed.
----------

Hi! I'm a medical student, so I thought I try to help out a bit. Metformin is commonly prescribed before a lot of other drugs for diabetes (and insulin resistance in PCOS) because it won't make your blood sugar drop dangerously low (like some other drugs can) and it's generally very well-tolerated by patients.

My pharmacology textbook lists the acute side effects of metformin as diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, nausea, metallic taste, and loss of appetite. It says you can reduce those symptoms by taking it with meals. You probably have a more comprehensive list of established side effects in the drug insert that came with your metformin.

Just because the symptoms you're experiencing aren't on this list, though, doesn't mean that they're unrelated to the metformin. I would definitely talk to your doctor if you're worried about these symptoms, especially if they don't go away soon. You just started taking it, so you might need to adjust the dosage or switch to another medication. Make sure to tell your doctor about any other drugs you're taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter, herbal supplements, or illegal drugs.

Hope this helps!  (+ info)

Can having my teeth cleaned cause a fever and chills?

I went to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning and last night out of nowhere I got a high fever, chills, & body aches. It only lasted a few hours. Could that have anything to do with going to the dentist?
I was the only patient in the waiting room and they got me right in.

It is possible but i doubt it. if it happens again consult your doctor.  (+ info)
