what do u think how can single parenting can effect child's behavior negatively?

Hi, this is my paragraph opening "Secondly, the reasoning is a problem for children. It is might hard for children to understand why their parent is a single parent. Because being a single parent is somehow a choice and decision of parents, there is still once unheard voice and that is of a child. Therefore, the thoughts about their single parent can affect their social and psychological behavior. "

Can a child develop autism disorders when they are older? If so how will they react?

For example a 16 yr old.
By react imean will they show it and how will others know of they never delt with autism before?
----------

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not listen to the Angie who posted previously! The autism spectrum is so BROAD that there are PROFESSIONALS who have it and you would never know!

I know of two young men who were diagnosed late. One was going to college at 18, had his license, and then was diagnosed. They just thought he had a learning disorder when he was younger. The second one was JUST diagnosed with Asperger's last week. He is 17, drives, and his mom just thought he was shy of large crowds.

Autism does not just develop when you are older. A person would have had it since either birth or as a toddler, but it may have been so slight that it was not until their teenage years that they or their parents realized a difference.

http://www.autismspeaks.org/ will have answers to your many questions.

What are some common ways to modify a child's behavior through altering their diet?

I'm interested in learning more about different techniques to change a child's behavior. I've heard of limiting sugar, quitting additives and food dyes. Also cutting out dairy and wheat. Just wondered if there were other dietary restrictions that could help.
----------

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but my daughter's behavior is better when she eats frequently, doesn't eat a lot of sugar and has a serving of protein first thing in the morning.  (+ info)

What kinds of eating disorders (overeating, like PWS or Pica) is a 3 year old child likely to have?

The bio mother was a drug addict & the child was neglected for the first 2 years of life.
----------

Most likely they if anything would soothe themselves with food if it is available. Many of us soothe our emotions by eating, we are a fat nation.

More important than which eating disorder this child may have is whether this child has been scared for life. As for the child being neglected for the first two years, that poor child will probably have problems with attachment, hence reactive attachment disorder.  (+ info)

How do I deal with the rude behavior of another person's child?

I live in an apartment complex that has 8 apartments (4 on top and 4 on the bottom) and is shaped in a U. There is this kid that lives on the bottom floor we are on the top. I believe his is 10 or 11, but no older then 12. He is constantly cussing out his mother and yelling at her. He slams doors and such. Today he was setting off fire crackers in the apartment complex and behind mine and my husbands cars. We asked him to stop, but he ignored us. So we called the non emergancy number and asked them to send someone out to tell him to stop and to kind of scare him a little. They did and it worked for about an hour then he was back out there again setting of the fire crackers. This kid is rude and is going to wind up in jail one day. How do I deal with this kid? I mean he screams and yells and it is hard to ignore. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Also, he lives with his mother, sister, and recently his mom's ex moved in but he's more like an uncle to the kid and is usually at work. His mother was home when the cops came and she made no effort to stop him from blowing up the fire crackers even after we asked him to stop. We even suggested nicely that he go across the street where there is a large empty lot. His mother just yells back at him and never punishes him because he says he will call the police. She is much older then I and I don't feel comfortable approaching her.

In situations where you no it doesn't do any good to speak with the parents your options are limited. I would recommend contacting your landlord and letting him know that you are considering on leaving (not that you really are) if something doesn't change. Let him know you have contacted the police and will continue to do so as long as there continues to be a problem. Then contact the police whenever there is an issue. You could also contact the child welfare and report the problems as obviously this parent has no control and probably could use some help. Maybe they can provide that too her. I would then directly confront the child and let him know you've asked nice but will not tolerate his behavior and if he goes near or does any damage to your property you will file charges against him.

Unfortunately some kids are just bullies and there's not much you can do about it except this or move away from it.  (+ info)

What behavior problems would an adult have who had been sexually abused as a very young child?

The child cannot remember the abuse.
----------

Then they may not have been abused.

And why would you want to dredge that up?  (+ info)

How many hours does your child play video games?Does your child's behavior change after playing video games?

Hiii everyone !! I am doing a survey and if you are a parent please answer these questions.
----------

My son is 5 and I have recently let him play on the PS2. The only game he plays is Chicken Little and I just bought Army Men with the little toy army soldiers. I have noticed that his behavior changes when he plays so I am now cutting out video games until he gets a little older. His eyes become glazed just after 10 minutes and his hearbeat also begins to race. (Not sure why that happens.) But the kicker was the other day when he peed his pants because he was so enthralled with the game. That is why my husband and I have taken video games away from him until he is more mature enough to play.  (+ info)

Do you have a child born with birth defects or other disorders?

I know the percentages are low, but I am just curious how many people on here have children with some type of physical or mental challenge and if there is anything that happened or drug they took during their pregnancy that they attribute it to?

I know 90% of the time it is a chromosomal abnormality and could not have been prevented.

Just curious.

Thanks.
