Getting rid of a Chalazion overnight or in hours?

I've have had it for about a year and it is almost not there i can still feel it a tiny bit though and it makes my eye look a little smaller. How can I make my eyes normal size fast.
----------

You cannot get rid of it fast. It takes a while. Most chalazions are treated with warm compresses to the eyelid to promote healing and circulation of blood to the inflamed area. In addition, the doctor may prescribe an antibiotic drop or ointment to be used immediately after the compresses. If the chalazion persists and is causing an unsightly lump, it can be removed surgically through the inside of the lid.

What is your experience with a Chalazion of the eye?

Have you had to have a steroid injection and or surgery? Please give me all feedback.
How bad is surgery though? who wants to have surgery on their eye?
----------

Chalazion of the eye is either:

1. Blepharitis (blef-uh-RI-tis) is inflammation that affects the eyelids. Blepharitis usually involves the part of the eyelid where the eyelashes grow.Blepharitis occurs when tiny oil glands located near the base of the eyelashes malfunction. This leads to inflamed, irritated and itchy eyelids. Several diseases and conditions can cause blepharitis.Blepharitis is often a chronic condition that is difficult to treat. Blepharitis can be uncomfortable and may be unattractive, but it usually doesn't cause permanent damage to eyesight.

2 A sty (hordeolum) is a red, painful lump on the edge or inside of your eyelid that may look like a boil or a pimple. Usually a sty is filled with pus. As it swells in size, the sty may make it difficult for you to see clearly because you can't fully open your eye.
More than one sty can occur at a time, leading to a generalized inflammation of your eyelid — a condition known as blepharitis. Fortunately, most sties disappear in just a few days. In the meantime, you may be able to relieve the pain or discomfort of a sty with simple self-care treatments.

If your doctor confirms that you have a sty, he or she may prescribe a topical antibiotic cream to apply to your eyelid. To treat a pus-filled sty that won't rupture or burst on its own, your doctor or ophthalmologist may choose to lance and drain the sty to relieve pain and pressure. Usually sty treatment doesn't require oral antibiotics unless you have a generalized infection of your eyelid.

Treatment for blepharitis can include:

* Cleaning the affected area regularly. Cleaning your eyelids with a warm washcloth can help control signs and symptoms. Self-care measures may be the only treatment necessary for most cases of blepharitis.
* Antibiotics. Eyedrops containing antibiotics applied to your eyelids may help control blepharitis caused by a bacterial infection. In certain cases, antibiotics are administered in cream, ointment or pill form.
* Steroids eyedrops or ointments. Eyedrops or ointments containing steroids can help control inflammation in your eyes and your eyelids.
* Artificial tears. Lubricating eyedrops or artificial tears, which are available over-the-counter, may help relieve dry eyes.
* Treating underlying conditions. Blepharitis caused by seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea or other diseases may be controlled by treating the underlying disease.

Blepharitis rarely disappears completely. Even with successful treatment, relapses are common.  (+ info)

How to get rid of a chalazion or a stye?

My baby has had this bumb underneath his eye lid, so we took him to an eye docter and he gave him some ointment and he said that if it did not go away in two-three weeks he would require surgery, my baby is only 10months old, I dont want no surgery for him. Anyhow, my question now, is we took him to the eye doctor 9-11 and todays date is 9-20, is it to early to start seeing results or should i wait a little longer, I contacted the eye doctor and they are to call me back some time today. is there anyway to get rid of this thing or what can I do. really need some advise here.

Sometimes they are able to treat a sty with incision and drainage. The area is numbed, and a vey small scalpel is used. It is pretty non-invasive, so hopefully your little one will do great!  (+ info)

It can be really painful. I have them to appear on my right eye about every 4-6 months. I went to the doctor,,He gave me antibiotic eye drops. Also told me to apply heat compresses 3 times a day. One was so large that it ruptured when I wiped my eye..I got a q-tip and pressed on the area and drained until it was almost gone..The next day it was alot better..It had completely disappeared within 3 days.  (+ info)

how long does it take for an eye chalazion to usually go away?

i been having this chalazion on my right upper eye lid for almost an year and i hate it its a small bumb but it is noticeble, i've been to an eye doc but nothing has really helped i've been on antibiotics and it went down just a little bit but then came right back, i've had it drained also before via small incision inside my eye lid but it came back.
----------

Antibiotics many times don't do a very good job of resolving a chalazion. That's because the chalazion develops a granuloma that walls of blood vessels and prevents the antibiotic from penetrating into the body of the chalazion. Having the chalazion drained by a small incision many times also doesn't give lasting results because the wall of the chalazion just heals back together at the site of the incision and then eventually recurrs. The best way to deal with the chalazion is to have the body of the chalazion incised and then evacuated with a special tool that looks much like a little scoop. If you wait too long, though, there is no effective treatment for removal. That's because the chalazion itself will begin to gradually blend with the surrounding tissue and just become a generalized scar.  (+ info)

How can I treat my chalazion under my eyelid naturally at home?

Tea can be a very effective treatment for many eye conditions including conjunctivitis, styes and chalazions. Either make a pot of fairly strong tea, or use a tea bag and let it steep til very strong. Allow to cool then soak a cotton ball or swab in the tea - makeup cleanser pads are cool because they don't leave fluffy bits behind - and apply to the eye. Aside from it's healing powers, the tea is also very soothing.
Alternatively, there are a number of homeopathic treatments available. I would try the cold tea first then see a homeopath if it doesn't help.
Good luck!  (+ info)

have a chalazion, what will they do at the optometrists office?

I have a chalazion, I have read about it and I am 100% sure that is what I have. It started out as a stye and is now a chalazion. My mom is making me go the the optometrist's and I am terrified. What will they do? Please give me all the details. i will feel better going atleast if I know what it is like. Tell me exactly what happenes please. Thank you!
----------

I have had four chalazions about five years apart. The first time I visited a doctor, he used what he referred to as a "tiny diameter piece of wire on a stick" to open up the chalazion and drain it. That one was gone in no time.

Other doctors I have gone to never heard of that procedure and have done nothing specific to help except to recommend hot compresses on the eye several times each day. You will probably also get a prescription ointment to apply to the eye.

Those doggoned things can take a long time to go away...
