chalazion!?

For the past 2 days, i've been putting hot compresses on the chalazion, but it seems to get bigger. Also, in the corner theres like a small pimple like thing, but it doesnt pop or n e thing. It seems like the opening of the chalazion, although im not positive. its a dark pinkish red and its gel like, but its jus there. its not commin out all the way. is tht normal? is it bad?
----------

If its actually a chalazion you will need more than hot compresses only. Agree with the guy above to use johnson's but do visit an opthalmologist as soon as possible. This stuff isnt dangerous but it can create a havoc if not treated in time esp cause visual disturbances. You might need an antibiotic ointment along with those warm compresses so see a doc soon! If it gets out of hand, u may end up having a visit to the OT. :/  (+ info)

How can i get rid of a chalazion?

I've had a chalazion for 2 months now. I've been doing hot compresses but those don't seem to be working. My doctor also prescribed antibiotic drops but those don't work either. I really don't want to get surgery. What else can I do to make the chalazion go away?
----------

I also have chalazion...2 lumps in my lower eyelid. I was messing around with my eyelid and out popped the chalazion bump in the outer corner of my eyelid. I was totally freaked out at this large abscess that was protruding from in there. I washed my eyelid with baby shampoo and cotton swabs. Then I applied a towel that had been rinsed with hot tap water continuously. I did this while rubbing, or massaging, where the chalazion was, with the hot towel. After doing this for about 10 minutes, I noticed that the glands (where the lashes are) were oozing tiny bits of pus-like matter. I squeezed a bit and more came out. Needless to say, my eyelid seems a little bit more flatter than it was before. Believe me, the chalazions are big, and this helped me. I still have the chalazion, but it's getting better by the day. I have also seen a doctor and suggested surgery, but I'm too afraid. Just try massaging while you compress, making sure the towel or whatever you use stays really warm, as hot as you can stand it (but don't burn yourself!!!). And don't forget to clean your eyelids with baby shampoo beforehand. Massage, massage, massage.  (+ info)

How can I prevent from getting a chalazion?

Hi. I've tried the warm compresses, but my chalazion just becomes more swollen and painful. I also have an ophthalmic ointment, but it just keeps coming back.
----------

You should probably think hard about what is causing it.
Contacts?
Dirty hands?
Dirty environment?
Exposure to smoke?
The warm compresses are the best thing, but think natural and do research on naturopathic remedies.
I hope you find what you're looking for.  (+ info)

How long should a lump remain after having a chalazion removed?

I had a chalazion removed on Monday. I understand that the swelling may take some time to go away. I am more concerned that the eyelid still feels "hard," as if the chalazion was not completely removed. I've read online in on only one site that the lump may remain for 1-2 weeks. Others don't provide as much information. For those that have had this procedure done, is this normal? Thanks!
----------

Wow, what an amazingly appropriate and insightful question to ask your DOCTOR! Only they know what is expected in YOU case as they are the one that performed the proceedure on you! CALL THEM! Your doctor is the only one that can give you a responsable answer with a surgery. None of us in herre have seen you, and the online info is not specific to you nor your surgery!  (+ info)

Can putting a hot compress on a chalazion make the chalazion bigger?

I have a chalazion on the top lid of both eyes and every eye doctor i've asked has said to simply put a hot compress on it. But I've done it, and instead of shrinking, it gets bigger! is this supposed to happen?? Is my only other option draining it/getting surgery to remove it?

anyone whose had any sort of chalazion in their eye and has had this type of experience who could offer advice would be greatly appreciated.
----------

I have the same thing. The hot compress really has not done much of anything to help it. However, I do not thik that it was aggrivating it.

However, I have stopped using contacts. (My doctor did not suggest this. I stopped on my own accord due to the fact that the lumps made the contacts uncomfortable.) In the past month without contacts, one of the two lumps went away. The second lump is not going away, and I am considering surgery for it. (I do not want the surgery, but I want it to go away.)

Good luck.  (+ info)

how to treat a scar on my eyelid after a chalazion surgery?

Three weeks ago I had a chalazion removal surgery from my right eyelid. Unfortunately, the doctor did an external cut, leaving a very visible scar. It looks red and very unhealthy. If it doesn't go away, what kind of cosmetic treatment should I go for in order to diminish the scar? Laser? Creams?

I am planing to visit a dermatologist but I thought it was a good idea to ask the forum. Thank you very much.

It’s best you continue seeing your doctor to understand your healing process and how to address the problems which concern you.  (+ info)

How effective is Tobradex in treating a Chalazion?

Has anyone had a good experience in treating a chalazion with tobradex?
Well my doctor told me that surgery was not an option since the chalazion is right on the lid margin. He says that it would damage the glands.
----------

Tobradex will not do anything to help with a chalazion. Try hot compresses and massage a couple times per day. If you're not seeing an improvement in a week or two, then the chalazion will have to be injected with a steroid or excised.  (+ info)

If i have my chalazion removed, how long will the healing process take?

I have had my chalazion for a little bit under a year. I was wondering, how long will it takes to heal, as in, not have any sign of a recent surgery. Also, how long would I have to wait, if at all, before lifting weights again?

How long does it take to recover from chalazion removal?

I'm having a chalazion removed from my lower eyelid on one eye. How long will it take to heal? and look normal? Also does it hurt?
----------

Usual time to heal : about a week. Will be about normal in appearance then too, or app 3 days more.
Painful? I would much rather go through this procedure than visit the dentist.
Best wishes! You will look great after.
Link below gives details on procedure.
