Is it bad to participate in a semi-intense cardiovascular workout while recovering from a flu-like infection?

I've had a runny nose and been coughing for 3 days, i feel as though im getting a little better and have enough energy to run. is this a bad idea? what do professional athletes do when they get sick?
----------

I have no medical background, but I swear it works for me every time I get cough/cold flu like stuff. Every time I feel like I'm way sick or getting something, I work out as intensely as possible to the point where I feel like I am going to pass out, then I go & take the hottest shower possible, then the next morning I feel like 90% better. So in my opinion its a good thing. I've heard you can sweat out a cold --- same thing with flu???  (+ info)

Does a cardiovascular based workout work the best for weight loss?

I am conflicted whether to perform more cardiovascular excercise (treadmills, ellipticals) or do a cross-train cardiovascular/weights session to lose weight in general? Most of the men's magazines mention to do a weight routine, but alot of people have told me to stick to the treadmill. What are your thoughts?
----------

you should cross train because with the cardiovascular then you will get your heart rate up burning calories. but by building muscle mass using weights you will burn calories when you aren't working out  (+ info)

What is the difference between a cardiovascular and a cardiothoracic surgeon?

I want to know the difference between a cardiovascular and a cardiothoracic surgeon and there annual salary.
----------

It's thoracic surgeon, not cardiothoracic. While both perform thoracic (chest cavity) surgeries a cardiovascular surgeon has specialized training and knowledge of heart and blood vessel procedures and disorders. Many cardiovascular surgeons are also board certified thoracic surgeons. The two disciplines work well together but cardiovascular surgery is more specialized and thoracic surgery is more of a general surgery. As to annual salary, that varies. There is no one figure but it will be 6 of them. And, I might add, it's well earned!  (+ info)

Does cardiovascular and lung capacity plateau after so many months of aerobic exercise?

I heard that in strength training, your muscles can plateau. Does the same apply to your heart and lungs in aerobic exercise? Do you need to switch it up after a while for aerobic exercise? Will your cardiovascular level off?

Thanks!
----------

Yes, to an extent. That is when you introduce circuits and intervals to change it up then go back to what you were doing when you break through.  (+ info)

What is the difference between a cardiologist, cardiovascular surgeon, and cardiotheracic surgeon?

I need to make a research on cardiovascular surgeons, and all these are different and I do not know which relates the most to what I am looking for? I know they are different because they get paid different.
----------

The cardiologist is the non-surgical specialist who treats the heart. The cardiovascular surgeon operates on the heart and related blood vessels, and the cardiothoracic surgeon operates on the heart and lungs, and related vessels. Oftentimes nowadays, the terms cardiovascular surgeon and cardiothoracic surgeon are used interchangeably.  (+ info)

What are the best cardiovascular/aerobic exercises to achieve weight loss?

I'm not neglecting weight training, I just want to lose some weight before doing it. I'm looking for an effective, high intensity cardiovascular/aerobic exercise routine that will yield excellent results: cardiovascular strength and endurance AND weight loss. I want a routine that I can do AT LEAST 5 days each week. Thanks!
----------

Any weight bearing exercises like walking/ jogging or if you go to the gym. Weight bearing exercises can also improve muscle strength and bone density too. Try and stick to a healthy diet as well. You don't have to make your body ache every day or starve yourself to get results.  (+ info)

How can I be strong physically, fit and have a good cardiovascular fitness?

I want to be strong physically and I want to improve my cardiovascular fitness. Unfortunately, I don't go to clubs anymore to run a lot. So I have to depend on myself every week on Saturdays and Sundays to run. Unless of course, there is a good sport I discover, I will take the chance.

But for now, what kind of thing would you recommend me to do if I want to improve my upper-body strength and cardiovascular fitness to do every week? Thanks in advance. Help much appreciated.
----------

I would highly recommand a very good product which is a kettlebell.

It is a nicely raw iron with many variation of exercise you can do. As for cardiovascular, "The swing" which is the foundational exercise is the best as it develops general fitness and cross over to many other sport. You can google search for kettlebell and know more about it but I believe the best website for it will be dragondoor.

The 1st link is on description of kettlebell

The 2nd link is my affilate link to dragondoor

The 3rd link is my blog  (+ info)
