My 4 month old son has brown color birthmark which developed around 13th day on his left cheek . it is very big what are the chances it is cafe au lait and what are the chances it will disappear on its own?he has this color birthmark on his head too. We have no family history of Cafe au lait or NF problem. I am very worried. Thanks

How to Make Cafe Au Lait

To make cafe au laitl at home,
brew a pot of strong dark coffee.

While the coffee is brewing, scald milk for the beverage.

If you have a home milk steamer, you can use that.

Otherwise, use a heavy saucepan on medium-high heat to bring the milk to a frothy almost boil.

Remove the milk from the heat and pour it into a generously sized cup, along with a stream of coffee.
You may want to place sweetener at the bottom of the cup before you begin.

Cafe au lait can be consumed plain,
or garnished with mint or lemon for an unusual flavor.

10 being as bitter as normal coffe 1 being sweet as hot chocolate.
It depends on how much (if any) sugar you add. Also depends on the coffee.
I'd say all things being the same:
#2 latte
#4 vanilla
#6 hazelnut
#8 cappuccino
#10 espresso

Only because the strength of the coffee usually increases as such and flavored coffee just hides the "bitterness" but I could make a cup of plain old joe much stronger and more bitter by simply adding more grounds. Latte is weakened by adding milk so it's bound to be first. Espresso of course is concentrated coffeee so obviously it's bound to be the strongest.Cappuccinoo could go on either end of the spectrum but that'd depend on the person.
sorry, I left out cafe au lait... give it a 2-3 it's not bitter with all that milk but again sweetness would be determines by the sugar..not as sweet as chocolate which would also depend on the sugar
actually raw chocolate is a lot more bitter than raw coffee  (+ info)

I have a cafe au lait birthmark that is about a size of a quarter. I want to get it removed, but my dermatologist says that lasers don't work well on cafe au laits and that they tend to appear again even if removed. I want to hear the stories from others who had laser treatments on their cafe au lait birthmarks. Did they work?
Mine was a nightmare. It left a scar that won't leave. I also had a mild case of hepatitus. I was better off with the birthmark.  (+ info)

It has autosomal dominant inheritance pattern. So, assuming your spouse does not have neurofibromatosis and is recessive (aa), and you are either homozygous or heterozygous (AA or Aa). Your child has a 100% chance of receiving it if you are homozygous and a 50% chance of receiving it if you are heterozygous.  (+ info)
