Any suggestions how how to treat scalp burns from chemical hair dye?

Leave them alone, they'll heal on their own.

Be extra gentle with that area when you wash/dry/style your hair.

I've had a burn on the top of my head, left it, didn't wash my hair for a week. It healed.

The worst thing to do, is to put more stuff on your head that will irritate it.  (+ info)

Scared of chemical burns on scalp - suggestions?

I want to bleach my dark brown hair to peroxide blond (Think Lady Gaga). I got volume 40 Clairoxide and some L'oreal Quick Blue. However, I was just wondering how long I could leave this mixture on my scalp before I'd get a burn xD. This is my first time bleaching and a friend will be there to help (Thank god) but I'm pretty scared of getting that gosh darned burn.

Thanks in advance!

how long do chemical burns last?

On my face, i used some heavy acne products and it left my face really red. How long does it last and how can i disguise it? Also, for you beauty wizards out there, I've got like this rash type thing under my arm: what is it and how can i make it look better?
----------

I did the same thing around Christmas. It's still healing. It'll dry out your face pretty bad, so use a face cream. It will probably burn when you put it on. As long as the burning stops when it's dry, it's normal. Unless it's oily, don't use soap when washing your face. Only warm water. And don't use those products again. The chemical burn means that it's either too strong or you're allergic. All you can do is just wait. It'll be red, it'll start to peel, and then it'll clear up. Like a sunburn.

As for the rash, make sure to wash it with soap and water at least once a day. Change deodorants. You may be allergic to the one you're using. Otherwise, just wait.  (+ info)

Does Clorox Bleach Cause Chemical Burns?

My dad was trying to remove mold and Clorox Bleach splashed in his face and arms. Now he has big red splotches and they burn. Should he go to the ER or something?
----------

Rinse the affected areas with lots of cold water. Blot dry carefully.

When all possible contamination has been removed, look at the burned areas. If the burns cover a large area, if they go deep or if the skin is broken he should get medical advice.

Treatment for this kind of chemical burn is very similar to treatment for a flame-burn or a scald. If there is no blistering and there is not a large area involved the burns can be covered with a DRY dressing for protection.

If he has got burns on his face he should get medical advice to avoid the possibility of facial scarring.  (+ info)

i have a question regarding hair dye and chemical burns to the scalp?

I got my hair dyed last year from black (my natural color) to blonde.it did not turn blonde, but a really ugly straw yellow. within one week, the stylist kept dying my hair, leaving the dye on my head for long periods of time, having me believe that if i left it longer itll change to my desired shade.unfortunately it did not happen.i felt so much pain on my scalp,a terrible burning feeling, that i asked them to rinse out the dye ASAP.it was dyed liked this for one week, about 2-3 times each visit, and about 4-5 visits within that week.i went home and i could start picking scabs off my scalp, little ones and also pieces of skin that was coming off the scalp at the hair root.so basically the piece of skin i picked off had a hole in the middle indicating where the hair grew through.there were many pieces of this, and so i went to the salon and just asked them to dye my hair back to normal which they did.i am wondering if there are any short term or long term damages to my scalp now. thanks.

The biggest problem is when the hairdresser uses fake dye (knowingly or unknowingly).

Some can cause cancer.

I had terrible headaches. I saw a doctor - and maybe you should too.

My solution is to go grey gacefully (and keep my spiderman mask on).

Dermatop. It is a prescription medication used for burns, that doesn't stain the skin, like Silvadine. You have to get the prescription from a dermatologist. Wear some sort of waterproof gloves, as some chemicals can get into your bloodstream.  (+ info)
