Bad taste in my mouth called Burning mouth syndrome. Is there any help or cure?

I suspect that a medication I took for one month, 3 1/2 years ago caused me to have "burning mouth syndrome." I stopped the medication immediately, but still have the horrible burning mouth syndrome. I have the constant, non-stop feeling that my mouth, especially tongue, has been scorched. Does anyone know of a remedy or any kind?
My mom is having a similar experience from taking "Boniva" -- the medicine that is supposed to prevent osteoperosis, but has so many dangerous side effects it will probably be pulled from the market.

At least that's what doctors suspect is the problem (She went to 3 different specialists and a dentist to figure it out and it's still only an hypothesis).

I think she's taking anti-inflammatory medicine that brings temporary relief from the symptoms, but it won't go away until that drug is out of her system. That's scary to know that it could cause a permanent reaction.  (+ info)

Can cutting the nerves being cut stop burning mouth. Can it be done and still have taste buds?
I admit I've never heard of burning mouth syndrome. I personally had geographic tongue, which is where you get red swollen areas of your tongue and it's pretty painful. That's why I looked at your question in the first place. I really dont' know the answer to your question, but I looked to see if burning mouth syndrome was reported by people with celiac disease, because that was the cause of my geographic tongue. It's an autoimmune disease caused by gluten intolerance. When I stopped eating gluten free my geographic tongue went away. You might try that while you're trying to find a cure. I spotted a couple of people who said they had it and it went away when they went gluten free.

I am a 20 year old male and about a year ago I got sick and vomitted and after that it burned whenever I ate food. I did some research and they said burning mouth syndrome can be caused by the acid from your stomach when you vomit. But just yesterday I started getting this again and it burns to eat once again...I have not been sick recently and dont know what it could be...I read that depression could cause it. I have been extremely depressed the past few weeks as I am goin through a break up with my girlfriend and stressed because of starting a new job. Anyone know what I should do?

Who the heck is they?? I have never ever heard of "burning mouth syndrom" Maybe heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, or ulcers. Try OTC antacids such as tums rolaids and pepcid  (+ info)

I recently finished up a 5 day treatment of Kenalog in Orabase on my tongue, I stopped two days ago, but since then I have been experiencing Burning Tongue,Roof of Mouth and sometimes lips. This fits the characteristics of BMS since I usually wake up with no pain and it comes in spurts throughout the day.

I have tested negative for Thrush and Candidas and I am an otherwise healthy 28 year old male.

If this is BMS brought on by the medicine, how long should I expect it to last?

I once heard that allergy to fluoride in toothpaste can do that to your mouth. Since all toothpastes seem to contain fluoride, I guess you'll have to brush with salt or start looking for plain organic toothpastes.  (+ info)

I have ocd and when I *think something is contaimated my mouth burns. Or sometimes it burns after eating onions in a burrito or whatever....
That maybe conceal that you are not suitable to eat something contaimated or stimulating.  (+ info)

My husband has been suffering from a burning mouth and tongue,(the tongue is no longer pink, it is a reddish color). It seems to get worse as the day goes on. He does have a full set of dentures, is it possible this could be the cause? Any info would be appreciated.
I had what you call Hunter's tongue. A very red tongue that burns when you eat vinegar or anything acid. It ended up to be a symptom of pernicious anemia or Vit B12 deficiency. Get his level checked it is a simple lab test. It sounds very much like this.  (+ info)

no i dont give "b.j.s " n i dont have sores its just a little red and its a burning sensation on the tipe of my tongue. this is really depressing me
It doesn't seem logical that a tongue piercing would be the cause of this condition. Burning mouth syndrome may just go away on its own down the road. There are many possible causes for your condition. One common cause is a vitamin deficiency particularly iron, zinc, and all the B vitamins which blood tests can help rule this out by going to a Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor.
