Is it possible I suffered any traumatic brain injuries?

I am a college student and I unfortunately ended up drinking too much one night and got lost. I fell on my head about 2-3 times on concrete in different parts of my head but I managed to walk the 3/4 miles to my room by myself and woke up with a minor hangover but didn't feel any different. The hangover went away after breakfast. This happened a couple months ago. I have also stopped drinking.

Will balance completely return after a traumatic brain injury?

In 2005 I suffered a traumatic brain injury from a serious auto accident and I had a lot of balance problems, including some vestibular issues. That has since been resolved, and my everyday balance is fine. However, I used to do a lot of swing and ballroom dancing, and when I tried a simple dance recently, I felt very imbalanced. Any unusual motion of my head causes me to feel unsteady (I am a school teacher and looking up and down from my notes to the chalkboard is difficult). Will my balance EVER return, or should I get used to using the overhead projector at school and not dancing anymore?
----------

The brain is a funny organ. You may have to retrain your brain and open new neural paths to regain what you have lost. At the very least, I would go for it.

It will not be easy and you will get frustrated, but it is better than swappings transparancies on the overhead projector  (+ info)

What is a good physical therapy For Brain hemorrhage ?

is there any devices Or rehabilitaion programs to do ?
----------

Darlin', this is a question that only a qualified physical therapist can answer. The PT will create an individualized rehab program just for you. They will ID any problem areas, and work with you on them. Ask you doctor for a referral to a PT, so that you can start on an individualized exercise/rehab program. They will also give you any devices that you may need to be able to return to as normal as possible.  (+ info)

Are there any agencies/foundations that help finanically/people that have traumatic brain injuries?

Grandson, college student attacted by 4 others. In critical condition with traumatic brain injury. He has no medical insurance.
----------

I am so sorry to hear about that. I am a quadriplegic and while I was in the hospital and a rehab so many people had brain injuries. The hospital that he is in should give you an information you need and help you make the best decisions toward his future. While I was still in ICU someone from the rehab which was about 60 miles away came to see my mother and greatly helped her make a decision. I had insurance and a steel had a million-dollar hospital bill. They knew that I could never pay for that so they just wrote it off. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask.  (+ info)

How are family members affected by someone with Traumatic Brain Injury?

Are you writing a research paper for college and you are trying to get real information from Yahoo Answers? Many people on this board act as though concussions were a laughing matter, but they haven't had to deal with it personally.

Based on my trying to find help after my injury I can understand how it is difficult for a lay person to find out information on this.

If you are a student, you can wade through the medical journals, I can't.

If you really want to know from people who have been there, you might try explaining that you need to talk to people who have actually dealt with this any why.

I answered one of your other posts, and if I were able to write long and effectively enough I could write a dissertation on it myself.

Your bland kind of questions have just irritated me. Where as if you wanted to actually interview someone and actually sounded like you cared, someone (even I) might be more apt to give you a detailed response.

And before you judge my response, go read my answer to your other question and see if I have room to talk.  (+ info)

Can the brain "make" us forget things for self preservation like a traumatic event?

not like totally erase it from memory forever but just i don't know, is it possible for us to have memories pushed to the back of our mind because they are traumatic?
----------

oh yeah.

Look up Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

It's actually fairly normal. Your body is hard wired to survive. Many people remember the trauma afterwards in flashbacks.   (+ info)

Why would a 30yr old have an angioplasty for a brain hemorrhage?

My friends daughter collapsed on
Friday and has been admitted to a neurological ward where they think she may have had a bleed. My friend thinks they are doing an angioplasty today but I thought that was to unblock coronary arteries. Has my friends mistaken the procedure or is it feasible
----------

I'm sorry to hear about your friends daughter. 'Angioplasty' is formed of two words "angio"- which means "artery" and plasty "repair". You have arteries all over your body so an angioplasty can take place anywhere, even in the brain.

I hope she makes a good recovery.   (+ info)
