If a person with traumatic brain injury is combattive and has paralysis what would a neuropsychiatrist do?

If a person with traumatic brain injury is combattive and is making delusional statements and has paralysis what would a neuropsychiatrist do to help this patient?

Obviously since this patient is displaying combattive behavior and making delusional statements he needs a psychiatrist, but because this patient is suffering from some degree of paralysis he would need a neurologist.

So if I were a neuropsychiatrist would I be qualified to treat both his psychiatric problem of combattive behavior and delusional statements, as well as his physical problem of paralysis due to brain damage?

I had concussion about 5 days ago, My head has stopped hurting and I feel fine, the spot on my head is still a bit soft but almost back to normal, I did not go to the hospital. I just want to be safe, none of the hemorrhage symptoms, do you think I'll be fine?
----------

At any point. That's just it there is no way of knowing. A clot could be formed and something like a hit to the head could jog it lose. Head aches are warning signs. Most likly though you'll be fine just you NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR concussions can KILL YOU!  (+ info)

What are some behavior changes when a traumatic brain injury occurs?

Hi! Im writing an essay how brain injuries can effect the three parts of the brain.

What behavioral changes happens when injury occurs in the:
forebrain

hindbrain

midbrain

If you have links ill greatly appreciate it.
----------

Well then you'll need to do some research on the subject. Problems with the frontal Cortex I think has to do with impulse control. There are some videos on Youtube that may help out if you're too lazy to do you own research. The right brain controls your left side and your left brain controls your right side. BTW I am brain injured. I was able to find brain injury links, and some of them say you aren't allowed on them for research purposes cause jerks go there to harrass these disabled people.  (+ info)

What will happen to my Aunty at the hospital?

thankyou
----------

A brain hemorrhage is a spontaneous aneurysm( a blood Vestel that brakes) or from a traumatic event that causes bleeding in the brain. The bleeding causes intracranial pressure. Meaning the bleeding basically pushes against the brain. However it depends on where the bleed in the brain is on what the out come may be. She will likely survive if it was caught early and is not very large and causing respiratory depression (slow breathing) or slowed heart rate. Even then if caught early, surgery performed to release the pressure she could fair quite well. Surgery is quite likely if the bleed is large enough to need it. Sometimes if the bleed is small they will just evaluate her for a couple days and do more CT scans to make sure its not getting bigger. As far as results of a brain hemorrhage and its likely out comes such as paralization it all depends on the location, size of the bleed and early diagnosis. Basically you'll just need to wait and see. Best of luck.  (+ info)

Can a traumatic brain injury lead to brain cancer?

And what environmental factors, if there's any, that can cause brain cancer? How can someone have brain cancer even if there are no history of brain cancer in his family?
----------

Exposure to certain toxins can increase the chances of developing cancer (such as in smoking) but injury is generally not associated with cancer.  (+ info)

How long can a brain hemorrhage last?

How long could you brain bleed for without symptoms?
That's not even funny.
You've been reported anyway.

Oh, and learn to spell, dear.
----------

you would generally only bleed for a minute or two. the blood would then take up all of the available space and the pressure of the brain under pressure from the blood would compress the vessel and stop bleeding. the blood would then congeal to some degree.

if the question is how long the effect will last, the usual answer is 6 months for the swelling associated with the bleed to dissipate. therefore 'stroke' symptoms shouldnt be counted as permanent until then.

if the question is -could you bleed for a month with no symptoms - the answer is no.  (+ info)

The doctor said my family member CAN recover from brain damage due to an hemorrhage. Is this true?

The doctor said the damage can be repaired. If this is so, what are some good steps to take to repair the brain. Right now my family member is unable to move, possibly caused by blood leaking on to the brain.

How does a physician diagnosis mild traumatic brain injury?

Traumatic brain injuries resulting from time served in Iraq ... from IED explosions, etc. What guidelines do physicians use to diagnosis a mild case of TBI? what type of physician is qualified to diagnosis TBI? and what type of treatment do these people diagnosed receive after being diagnosed with mild TBI?
----------

Any patient who is suspect of having a traumatic brain injury is first assessed by the Glasgow Coma Scale. The next step would commonly be a cat scan. TBI can be diagnosed by any physician who has access to the proper equipment. The Glasgow scale is often used by nurses during assessment of patients, and may be performed several times while under a nurses care to assess for changes. Generally, treatment for mild TBI is therapy (both physical and/or occupational). In more severe cases, or if changes in the patients level of consciousness are noted, surgery may be needed along with therapy. Any surgery to the brain should be performed by a neurologist.  (+ info)

could you have a brain hemorrhage that could heal on its self with out surgery?

Also if it does heal on its self what would it be like? a blood clot or a mass in your brain or does it just heal and disappear!
----------

One can have what is called an ischemic transient stroke that can be mild with or without symptoms. Sometimes the brain can heal itself from such injuries. When they gave my mother an MRI they noticed that she had old strokes. You really don't want to mess around with clots in the brain. It can be fatal so they may put you on clot busters. If that doesn't work, they may have to operate. Always bests to keep a good blood pressure and keep cholesterol low.  (+ info)
