If an animal or human gets rabies, how long does it take to attack the brain tissue and cause death?

The reason for the question is for a film I am doing research for and want to be educated on this rather than have the audience say "That would never happen".
----------

I don't know exactly how long it takes for rabies to kill, but symptoms can arise as early as nine to ten days or as long as several years after exposure. It all depends on the following factors. The severity of the bite, the location of the bite, and how much of the virus you were exposed to. Good luck with that film!  (+ info)

Can lifting really heavy weights at the gym cause blood vessels in the brain to burst and cause death?

I have started to work out with heavy weights and I am deeply concerned about this.
----------

My husband is a very large man and I still get kinda scared about what he lifts. What can happen more so then the popping of the veins is you can cause a hernia that can be so bad that you really don't want to know what happens. What you need to do is work up to what you want to be lifting in a month or so. Say you try to bench 250 pounds and you can only do it a few times what you want to do is work to it tell you can press it 10 times or more. if you work your body to hard there is allot more damage that you can do then you really think about. You also should talk to the trainers at the gym you go to. Just asking questions for your own health is free advice so your not paying for it plus I really don't think the gym wants to have to call 911 for you later. So have a nice talk with a trainer and make sure that they know your goals and what you intend to do with your own body. Have fun with the pain and learn from who ever you can about what your body can do and trust me there is allot of room for great things that you can do.  (+ info)

Lack of blood flow to brain cause death?

When I was a kid, we would hold the 2 main arteries on our neck to faint & catch a buzz. Out of boredom, I started thinking about this & was wondering what if the main arteries were never let go? Would you die?

In other words, lets say blood flow is cut off via the arteries but you can still breath through your throat, it wouldn't kill you would it?
----------

It could. Your lungs don't transport the oxygen to your brain, your blood does. By depriving a brain of blood, you suffocate the brain. You wouldn't be able to do this accidently, because before you died you would pass out. Then you would involuntarily release your grip.  (+ info)

Does a brain tumor always lead to death?

I thought that radiation therapy and such removed tumors, but after I had read about it on wikipedia it didn't look like that. The treatment only stops it from growing or reduces it. Does that mean that if you have a tumor it will always end up malignant..?
----------

There are a number of different types of tumors. How long you lives depends on what kind of tumor you have, how large it is, your age, and a number of different things. When you look at brain tumor statistics they don't look so good, but new medicines, that have only come out in the last few years are changing the statistics on life expectancy for us. Yes I said us I had a tumor 4 years ago and killed it with the new drug Teodor. At Christmas last year i got the new that i had a new one. sorry to say this happens a lot. I am on my last week of chemo and radiation combined. New cures are just around the corner for us. A new vaccine is in clinical trials now and shows great promise. So I guess the answer to your question is no.  (+ info)

How serious is Encephalitis? Can it lead to death or permanent damage to the brain?

Encephalitis is usually caused by a viral infection of the brain, causing swelling of the brain itself. It is rarely fatal but it is usually monitored in a hospital where the patient can be supplied IV fluids and treatment for accompanying symptoms. Since it is usually caused by a virus, antibiotics are not prescribed.  (+ info)
