My sister went under a bone marrow transplant but her skin burned 3 months later. Her normal skin tone is tan/white but now her skin is burned and is constantly burning and its very dark. I cant seem to find the name of this disease or how long it will take to heal. The doctors say she is cancer free and her blood in fine except the issue with her skin being burned and dry. Any help to find a website about this would be highly appreciated. THANKS
I wonder if she has graft v host disease. Did her transplant use a donor? I have had problems with chornic gvhd that effect my skin, but its not burnt. I get a rash that looks similar to eczema. Its red, itchy, and dry in splotches.  (+ info)

Do I have to reveal that I have Crohn's and digenerative bone disease during a job interview?

I am going for a job interview this week. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and digenerative bone disease about 8 months ago. Before my diagnosis, I miss many, many days of work due to abdominal pain, joint pain, stiffness and the inability to be too far away from my bathroom. This went on for 4 years before I was finally diagnosed. Since I have been diagnosed and gotten the proper medication, I have both undercontrol. The possibility of a flair up at one time or another is relatively certain. Should I disclose this information in the interview or wait til I have the job and only disclose if a flair up occurs and I am forced to take time off?
By law, you do not have to disclose anything. (HIPAA Privacy Rule) You only have to answer truthfully questions that directly relate to your ability to do the job, such as Can you lift 20 lbs. on a regular basis (if that's part of the job), or look at a computer screen for 8 hours a day, etc. I have Crohn's and I know the worry that a flare may occur and interfere with your brand-new job and make a bad impression. like by undercooked, i mean a chicken leg where the meat is white (not pink), but kinda 'slippery', and it bleeds a little if you break the leg bone.
well usually pink would be more undercooked than white meat but i dont know. my mom apparently ate undercooked chicken like 2 days ago and shes just been whining about her stomach hurting. she just missed like a day of work but good to go now. guess it depends if the meat had salmonella or other bacteria in it  (+ info)

What diseases/disorders, besides leukimia and anemia, can you have when your white blood cell count is low?

Please help! My Grandma has a low WBC count and they say it is not anemia, and it is likely to be much worse than leukimia. She had bone marrow drawn today, so it will be a week or two before we know anything. I hope this does not offened anyone but if you would please keep her in your prayers, that would mean the world to me. That's really all we can do while we wait.
I don't see how she could have an STD b/c she has been married for 45 years. I have never seen any two people so in love. I really dont think it is possible.

Low white cell count never equals leukemia! That would be abnormal cell reproduction and it would not take a bloody bone marrow biopsy to diagnose - just a simple blood test will suffice.

Myelosuppression - a decrease in the production of blood cells, which may lead to low blood count.
Pancytopenia - a lowering of all three types of blood cells; red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells, which may lead to low red blood cell count, low blood platlet count, and/or low white blood cell count.
Anemia - a decrease in the number of red blood cells (RBC), which may lead to low red blood count. [not what your grandma has]
Thrombocytopenia - a decrease in the number of platelets (PLT), which may lead to low blood platlet count.
Leukopenia - a decrease in the total number of white blood cells (WBC), which may lead to low white blood cell count.
Neutropenia - a decrease in the number of neutrophils, one type of white blood cell, which may lead to low white blood cell count.
Granulocytopenia - a decrease in the number of granulocytes, the group of white blood cells that include neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils, which may lead to low white blood cell count.  (+ info)

i cant seem to remember the name of a bone disease that affects one side of your body can anyone help? im sure there might be more than one but any information helps. thanks.
Many times bone diseases are local and spread over time. Hemiplegia is the term used to describe what happens on one side of the body and not the other but for bone diseases, arthritis, osteoporosis, etc will occur usually in one spot and not all over at once. Many people with a knee replacement, for example, will only need it for one side of the body.  (+ info)
