Why does body temperature decrease straight after exercising?

I measured my body temperature before and after 15 minutes of running only to find that my body temperature had decreased straight after the running instead of increased like I suspected it to. Does anyone know why it decreases?
----------

Yes, because when you exercise you produce sweat. the reason our body's sweat is so we will cool off and not overheat. Our body produces sweat and it then evaporates off our skin (hence cooling us off).  (+ info)

What does it mean when my body temperature drops?

My current body temperature is down to 34/35 degrees celsius? Should I be worried? what could it mean?
----------

If it drops down any lower it could be mild hypothermia.

High body temperatures are far more serious than low body temperatures.  (+ info)

How accurate is body temperature in determining your metabolism?

I have read on several sites that having a consistently low body temperature is a good sign that something is up with your thyroid.

Mine isn't low...it's usually 98.2 when I wake up and 98.6 the rest of the day........but I just feel like my metabolism is so sluggish?
I DO eat right and exercise, in fact I'm a total gym rat who works out with a personal trainer twice a week.....

Next time don't make stupid assumptions and just answer the question.

eat right.....exercise  (+ info)

How do you raise your body temperature while sitting down.?

I often get a runny nose after sitting in class for 10 minutes. However, as soon as I start walking, I feel fine. I think this is because my body temperature falls as soon as I stop moving or sit down.
Is it possible to maintain your body temperature or raise your body temperature while sitting in a class?
The method has to be quite subtle as my teacher might go mad if I just start meditating in class as I might look like I've just fallen asleep.
----------

The Autogenic relaxation technique may help. Three times tell yourself, I am calm & relaxed - then My arms are very heavy x 3 - carry on with body very heavy x3 - my body is warm and relaxed x 3 - practice beforehand to establish the pattern. Do look up Autogenic Training it is very useful to focus the mind. All the best. Your nose may run for other reasons though. If you are sensitive to your surroundings, as in hayfever, it would cause nose to run. It could be say, a cleaning solution they use in classroom. Just a thought, may be irrelevant.  (+ info)

Is there a way to control your body temperature at will?

I know the idea seems a little weird, I also took one year of A.P. Biology and never heard of it happening but I was just wondering if it was possible to make your body temperature increase or decrease at will.
----------

If there is, I haven't heard about it either. =)  (+ info)

Do you burn more calories when your body temperature is lower?

I read somewhere a long time ago you burn more calories when your body temperature is lower because it has to use more energy (calories) to heat you up?
----------

If your body is any temperature outside of the normal range, the body will adjust to burn more calories to get your temperature back to normal.
This is true for those situations like when you are running a high fever, or when you are exposed to hypothermic conditions (freezing). Similarly, even when you exercise and your body warms up, you sweat... a reaction by the body to cool you down... even sweating more than normal burns up more calories than normal.

This is not, however, a way to lose weight! We all know how terrible we feel even when our fever is only 2 or 3 degress Celsius above normal! We feel dreadful because our body can not take this state for very long! So, to anyone reading this, do not attempt to adjust your body temperature in pursuit of losing weight! You are "playing with fire" if you do!  (+ info)

When pregnant does your body temperature fluctuate?

My body temperature changes a lot. I'll be really hot and sweaty and icky one day or one moment, and the next not so much, sometimes cold. Anything?
----------

My wife's body temperature has been higher than average since a kid.Is that a sign of anything unhealthy?

Since a kid, she seems to be hotter temperature wise than normal people. Even when we sleep or the kids hug her in bed, everybody stops hugging her (including myself) after about 5 minute because her body is hotter than the average person. Again, she's been like this since a child.
----------

She's fine. If she's had it this long, chances are it's not an indication of anything unhealthy.

It sounds like this is just how her metabolic system works. My ex ran hot, so does my brother, my dad and my sister.  (+ info)

Can you monitor your internal body temperature by monitoring your pulse/heart rate?

What about for dogs? Can you monitor their body temperature by monitoring their pulse/heart rate?
----------

Heart rate rises about 10 beats for every degree rise of body temperature. That does'nt mean that you can monitor body temperature by measuring the heart rate. This is because there are many other causes for a change in heart rate. Simple anxiety can cause a rise in pulse rate without any significant rise in body temperature.  (+ info)
