What could cause an increase in body temperature?

I've just finished a course of anti biotics prescribed to try and solve a rise in body temperature to between 37.3 and 38.3 that occurs regularly along with occasional shivers, heavy sweating and chills particularly in the mornings. This is in addition to an ongoing widespread pelvic pain problem which may be endometriosis. I was told that infection with endo is not uncommon but the anti biotics have not made any difference to body temperature or to pain. An ultrasound showed a 'probable haemorrhagic cyst' size 21mm and the right ovary measures 36 x 19 x 38mm and the pain in that area is severe. It had been more widespread but the pain killers that I have been taking for two weeks have eliminated thge subsiduary pains and only the right ovary is causing concern. The doctor and the gynaechologist have both said it is uinlikely to be cancer and are sending me for a laporoscopy and I have another hospital appointment next week. Rise in body temperature is main concern.
----------

I would think it is all connected, the cyst and the possibility of endo. If you don't mind, I would suggest talking to your dr. about the laporoscopy. More than likely they will be looking to see if anything is going on, including looking for endo and I would think that they would remove the cyst. But I would ask what will be done if any endo is found, how will it be removed, and ask if they will be taking biopsies and sending them to the lab for confirmation. If endo is found you would want them to remove all of it by means of excision-which means to cut it out. They should take samples and send them to the lab so you have it confirmed. Some dr.'s will not remove the endo-they will do a diagnostic lap, some will remove what they can by burning it off, some won't be skilled enough to remove endo that is surrounding vital organs so they will leave it there. All of those options would most likely result in your pain not going away or your pain coming back. I think it's pretty common for women to get cysts, especially those with endo. I wouldn't worry too much about it being cancerous but it could be a chocolate cyst or endometrioma. They are the same thing, just different names. It's basically a cyst that, unlike normal cysts that are filled with fluid, they are filled with old blood, this type of cyst is associated with endo and should be removed because if it ruptures all of the blood that pools out will inflame and irritate the surrounding area causing you quite a bit of pain. Sorry I didn't have an anwser for your question directly but I hope I was able to give you some good info concerning your situation in general. Good luck.  (+ info)

What does it mean when my body temperature falls below my normal body temperature?

I have had a fever of about 102.5 degrees for the past few days.
In the last 4 hours, it has fallen to 97.7 degrees.
My regular body temperature is 98.6 degrees.

Is it bad that my body temperature is 97.7 degrees?!
----------

It is normal for body temperature to fluctuate by a degree or two Fahrenheit over the course of a day. If you remained at 98.6 all the time, you'd probably be of interest to medical researchers.

You are nowhere near hypothermic.

If you've had anything cool to drink, that could make your body temperature fall. Something cold could make it fall dramatically. Any kind of medicine that reduces fever would reduce body temperature even if you're at a "normal" level for you. This would include Advil, Tylenol, etc.

Congratulations on your apparent recovery from illness!  (+ info)

What does having a low body temperature mean?

Mine is always about 35.5 celsius (oral). Is that a big deal? I am very slim, high metabolism. No problems such as liver or kidney problems, not diabetic etc. Just curious. I know 37 is the normal body temperature. Does that mean everyone is about his or can it give or take a little?
----------

Hi

its natural to have a body temperature of 35.5c
remember slim people generally have a slight lower body temperature because they have less fat. if you are cold often even in warm temperatures then you should go see a doc.
if you feel fine then its definately fine as even a slight abnormal change in body temperature can be very uncomfortable.

you are fine,

dont worry and hope it helped  (+ info)

How many degrees do thermogenic diet pills raise body temperature?

My mother is taking hydroxycut and it says on the bottle that it is thermogenic and from what I have read that means it highers your body temperature to burn calories.

How many degrees does it raise your body temperature?
Is it something that mimics a fever and shows on a thermometer?
Is it dangerous?

Thanks For The Help! :)
----------

i took the original hydroxycut for a year (the one the company was forced to take off shelves)
it's EXTREMELY important to drink PLENTY of water and still eat while taking the pills! if what she is taking has the same affect as the original, it will make u MISERABLE if u don't.

as for the temperature...it does not give u a fever or anything u can see on a thermometer. it makes u feel hot...kind of like youi've been working out. again..drink LOTSSSS of water. the pills should also be started with one a day and the amount per day should slowlllyyy increase until the maximum amount is reach. if u up too much at a time, you'll feel sick and maybe shakey and the thermogenic factor may make u feel like u have a temp..fair warning :]

however, because the new product does not contain the same ingredients as the original, and because we react to things differently, her reaction may not be the same as mine,  (+ info)

Why does my body temperature keep jumping up and down?

For the past three weeks my body temperature has been somewhere between 98.7 and 101.8 degrees. My temperature tends to be higher during the night as well. Usually I feel just fine but sometimes (not very often) my stomach becomes upset or I get a headache. And also no matter what I do my hands always seem sweaty. Any ideas as to what it could be?
----------

1st, are you using the same thermometer, the same way? Not knowing your medical history, could be a low grade infection. Check with your Dr.  (+ info)

What is supposed to be a toddler's body temperature during sleep?

They say most of the heat goes to our head when we sleep, cooling off at the body, but a few times when my son would cry at night and I would measure his temperature, it would be 35C or 95F? What does it mean?
That's his ear temperature.
When I measure mine, it's really high after just woken up.
Abi B, your son can really weather the cold! Good for you!
----------

it might mean that he is too cold. Try putting an undershirt on, or thicker pj's. I know that we have to use a heater in our babies room or else they get to cold. Try it out and see if he wakes up.  (+ info)
