Is a union between a man and a woman belonging to the same blood group recommended ?

I am about to marry a girl and we both belong to the same blood group: O +ve.

She is a bit concerned that this resemblance of blood group could cause certain medical imbalance, of which I am not very clear. We love each other and we do not want to cancel the marriage because of a matching blood group. We have decided to go ahead with the marriage overlooking any consequences.

However, I would like to know what these consequences can be and what are the possible remedies.

There is NO problem with two 0+ people getting married and having children, absolutely none. In fact, it's good you are both positive as this means there won't be any chance of Rh factor for any fetuses (if mom is + and fetus is - there's a problem). Where did she ever get that idea?  (+ info)

Can 2 negative blood group parents have a positive blood baby ?

Or is this really impossible ?

If both mother and father are both negative blood groups, could the baby ever be a positive blood group ?

Thanks
----------

Not generally. I think the baby usually has the blood type of one parent. For example, my mother was O - and my father was B +
and I inherited B+.
I could have been negative as well, but it had to have come from either parent.
I may be wrong it could be possible with genetics since sometimes crazy things happen, but I think generally no it doesn't happen.  (+ info)

For Example If both Bride and groom having B+ Blood Group so is there any problem during birth of child or pregnancy.

If yes then is there any solution for this problem?

No the only complication would be if mom is negativ(A-, B-, AB-, O-) and dad is positive. this can a serious complication and harm the baby, it's called erythroblastosis fetalis. If mom and dad are both positive, baby will be fine.  (+ info)

Does it affect the baby if the blood group of mother is O negative and that of father is O positive?

My wife has just coveived after 8 years of marriage. I'm a bit worried about the baby, because, my blood group is O positive and her's is O negative. Also she is 37 already. Can she have a normal pregnancy?
----------

There should be no problem with being an O+ and your wife as O-.
The baby will likely to be a type O blood person too.
There should be no genetic disease or anything defects on your baby..

However, being old during pregnancy is a high risk condition.
There should be no problem about since there are lots of old pregnant women around, some even get pregnant at 45!

So just take care of the wife an have her checked-up with your trusted gynecologist and she should be fine.

by the way, congratulations!  (+ info)

I never heard that same blood group will lead to any conception problems. May be the problem is something else and a doctor can better help you than anyone else.  (+ info)

What are the problems when o negative blood group women marry a 'b' positive blood group men?

What are the problems when o negative blood group women marry a 'b' positive blood group men?
----------

woman that have a negative blood type and men with a positive blood type have a few issues... But that can be fixed. When a woman has a - blood type when she gets pregnant the woman's body will attack the baby because of the + blood type. It doesn't see it to be a good match. So they give you a shot... Simple! If you think you are pregnant and this is the case you should call your Dr. its called the Rh factor! Good luck!  (+ info)

Has anyone tried the blood group diet and do you think it works?

I am O+ which is the oldest blood group type in the history of mankind.

This group are called 'hunters' and should eat meat for example.
My weight is not too bad, but I have started this diet for health reasons only and believe it works for me.
There are veges and fruit and the other food groups on the diet as well but 'meat' is predominant.
----------

The Blood type diet was co-founded by Dr Adamo a naturopath that defined the blood types by how their blood responded to food lectins.I think The blood group diet has allot of credible information but it needs to be taken with a grain of salt.Blood type is only one factor that pinpoints our genetic blue print the other is metabolic type, activity level, ancestry, weight, age etc.A good whole foods diet tailored by your own metabolic needs is best. The blood type diet is a good theory and the book has many compelling pieces of wisdom and information, its a valuable tool for health but not a defining rule.We are now seeing that the general dietary advice does not work for everyone,we are individuals and really need to listen to the wisdom within our own bodies.  (+ info)

IF you're not a Jehovah's Witness or opposed to using blood-based medicines for other reasons, the RhoGAM (or Anti-D) shot is your simple answer for prevention.

The complex answer involves a bit more information, care and planning to avoid all opportunites for the unborn baby's blood to mix with the mother's blood. More info on that in the book "Anti-D in Midwifery: Panacea or Paradox" by Sara Wickham.
