Bile Reflux?

i went for an endoscopy, the doctor said i do not have acid reflux, any problems with my esophagus but, i did have an excessive amount of bile in my stomach, when there should have been none because i did not eat anything for about 18 hours...so i was wondering does anyone know anything about bile reflux, i cant find anything online. like what are the cures, and what causes it?

Diversion surgery. This is usually the preferred procedure for treating bile reflux. In what is called a Roux-en-Y operation, surgeons make a new connection for bile drainage further down in the intestine, thereby diverting bile away from the stomach.  (+ info)

Can bile reflux give you a hard time to breathe?

Is this a normal symptom to have shortness of breath for several months straight if you have bile reflux? How about on and off for years? Has anyone else had this problem? (When I say shortness of breath - meaning a hard time getting a deep enough breath)

I have bile reflux. Just wanted to know if I don't eat any fat at all - like become a vegetarian - will I still have bile reflux?
----------

if you have reflux, the flap at the beginning of the stomach doesn't close fully. slow down on the carbonated drinks. take an antacid before eating to curb the reflux. and watch what you eat (spicy foods).  (+ info)

I have bile reflux. I took Prilosec and Reglan for a month. I feel good now. How long will this last?

I have bile reflux. I took Prilosec and Reglan for a month. I feel good now. How long will this last? Do I need to continue with treatment or should I stop it? Should I take a break and start when I feel bad again?
Thanks

unfortunately you will have to continue the treatment. generally the only permanent cure is surgery and i've heard its unpleasant. are you keeping you head propped at night ,eating slowly all those usual recommendations. i know those medications are ridiculously expensive. ask your doctor if you can just take a maintenance dose perhaps 1/2 of what you were taking  (+ info)

Has anyone experience of gastritis due to bile reflux?

Since I had my gallbladder out I have been suffering refluxing, vomiting and a lot of pain in my stomach. An endoscopy showed gastritis and I am on Lansoprazole,Sucralfate and metoclopramide for it which I have been taking for weeks with no sucess. Has anyone ended up having an op with the same thing? My gastro recommends an operation for the problem.
----------

My friend had the surgery - fixed the valve between the stomach and the esophagus.

12 inch incision. He recovered fine -n 4 weeks.

The thing is when acidic juices flow up the esophagus, they cause pre cancerous cells . You can't leave it. All these people popping pepto are not solving the problem.

acid/bile reflux?

Does anyone out there have any home remedies for severe acid and bile reflux. I have become immune to the over the counter drugs.
----------

I have acid/bile reflux as well as gastritis, hiatal hernia, colonic inertia, etc... the list goes on! I've actually asked my GI's (Ive had three) and pepto bismal is not out of the question... My GI has patients with colitis take pepto up to 8 tablespoons a day... I have severe issues and it works for me and is a completely acceptable antacid... Gaviscon is also another good one! I am also on perscription drugs but have been advised to take Gaviscon before every "major" meal! Eat smaller meals (aka snacking... healthy of course), instead of three big meals! This gives the system less to digest at one time! Simple home remedy... Im sure they gave you a list of all the foods to avoid! I feel your pain... Ive had at least 3 endoscopies as well as colonoscopies, and a bravo pH monitoring surgery! Hang Tight :)  (+ info)

Acid Reflux Or Bile Reflux?

I was recently reading online that the burning in my stomach in the morning could be because of bile reflux, not acid reflux. This worries me because bile reflux cannot be cured and it means something is wrong with your gallbladder. I am really worried. I wrote a question on here the other day talking about if maybe I had an ulcer. I am depressed from always feeling so ill. I am currently seeing a gastro sepcialist. I have yet to get blood results back. In the past, I have had ct scans and ultrasound of stomach and gallbladder. I had a barium swallow a few years ago and was diagnosed with acid reflux. My liver and pancreas enzymes are normal. Im so sick of feeling like this all the time. Please help. I am only 27. I dont smoke, drink caffeine, or eat chocolate or citrus. I dont know what the heck else to to do. Could i just be overly anxious and need to stop searching the internet or am I being proactive and finding an answer?

I'm sorry to tell you, but doctors are really bad at fixing acid reflux problems. They rely on antacids from drug companies and that is the last thing you want to do in regard to acid reflux, acid indigestion, or heart burn.

At 27, and having these problems, you need to first understand what is causing the problem and then address it from an educated view.

Acid reflux is due to the LACK OF STOMACH ACID or the parietal cells in the stomach being subdued by interference fields from injuries, traumas, to the front of the body.

If your stomach acid level is too low, you will not be allowing your stomach pH to get down to 1.5 to 3.0 range and your food will begin to rot, purtrefy, and produce methane gas. The pyloric sphincter will stay closed, waiting for the pH to go down. This disgusting chyme that is produced is toxic and produces LACTIC ACID that gives you the acid feeling, NOT STOMACH ACID ! Neutralizing the LACTIC ACID with antacids will make you feel better, but it also neutralizes the very thing you need that will digest and sanitize your food, Stomach Acid.

To prove this to yourself, all you have to do is a quick experiment that will show you with 3 minutes or less that this is the case. Go to: (800) 370 - 3447 and order a bottle of Betaine HCL and a bottle of HCL Activator and a bottle of digest. The total price will be less than what your antacid cost your doctor prescribed for you.

If you are over 150 pounds, take 4 Betaine HCL and 2 HCL Activators after the meal. Take 2 Digest just before the meal.

I think you will be amazed at how well this works, and so inexpensively too.

Then take a look at the oils and fats you are ingesting or not ingesting. A low fat diet contributes heavily to a gallbladder going bad. Eliminate ALL vegetable oils including canola, soybean, cottonseed, and corn oils. These oils contribute heavily to inflammation in your arteries that cause heart disease.

Go to the health food store and purchase 3 oils. Mix these oils as follows: 1/3 Olive Oil, 1/3 Sesame Seed Oil, 1/3 Coconut Oil.

Then use this oil mixture on ALL your cooked foods and in your salads with adding balsamic vinegar to the oils for your salad dressing.

Elimate completely from your diet ALL fried foods, ALL hydrogenated oils and foods containing that, ALL trans fats.

If you do these simple things, it will make a huge difference in your life and your digestion. There are many other things you should be doing as well, but you should see a Certified Nutritional Therapist that can test you to determine what nutrients you are lacking specific to you and can recommend a good quality diet.

good luck  (+ info)
