How can I lose menopaus weight gain?
I have the menopaus tummy gain and I hate it!
I have tried everything and nothing is working.
Any ideas out there?

The dreaded "menopot". I have one too. At age 46, I look sort of pregnant!
Other than disguising it with slightly longer tunic-style tops and elongating longer skirts, the Mayo Clinic has a few good tips. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/menopause-weight-gain/HQ01076
So does Web MD: http://www.webmd.com/menopause/guide/menopause-weight-gain
This article helps explain why you (and I) are gaining weight: http://www.epigee.org/menopause/weight_gain.html
Sadly, we aren't in our teens and twenties any more and can't eat whatever we want. I do strenuous gardening and landscaping, walk on my treadmill, and exercise in my big swimspa/hot tub, and I still have that menopot. Women in menopause may have to adjust to having a little bit of belly bulge, but the above articles should help both of us. (

My girlfriend is unable to have a period without taking a birthcontrol pill, is she going through menopaus?
she's 22, she started her period when she was 8.
----------
she probably just has a hormone deficiency and taking the b/c supplies her body with the hormones she is lacking, she might want to discuss this with a dr though because if she wants to have a baby someday this could make it hard or even impossible for her if she doesn't have it treated........also she doesn't have to be 40 or over to go through menopause there are MANY women who experience it as early as their 20's it just depends on their family, normally if their mother goes through it early they will too (

Can someone explain menopaus to me?
I don't need great detail, but I know nothing about this, and have noone I can ask. What happens physically to my body,( do I get fat and lazy) my sex life,( do I dry up and never want sex) my mood, (are the swings unavoidable and dramatic). I hear horror stories and would like the truth.

You just quit being able to have kids and no more periods. (

do I need estogen afer menopause, I had a partial historectomy and dont know if I have even been thru menopaus?
I had a total vaginal hysterectomy (uterus and cervix) and kept both ovaries when I was 29. I didn't need any hormone replacement therapy until a few years ago. I never had symptoms of hot flashes even before being put on HRT.
I got retested and the dr. concluded that since I didn't have any symptoms it could be related to the meds I was taking for severe chronic pain. I've heard that there's a 50% chance of women going into menopause within 5 years of having a hysterectomy even if they keep their ovaries. I didn't have a BSO (bilateral salpingo oopherectomy) B=both S= tubes O= removal of ovaries.
I would have your dr. test you to see if your estrogen levels are o.k. Did you by any chance keep your cerix? There is a term called subtotal or supracervical hysterectomy when women keep the cerivix or bottom of the uterus the size of a coat button. The cervix is part of the uterus. Vary rarely women use the term partial hysterectomy when they have kept their cervix. Either way if you know you have your ovaries it's best to get tested with your dr. Let them decide if you need HRT or not. There is an increased risk of breast cancer though. You can check out www.hystersisters.com for more information. They have all kinds of message boards and have one specifically for women who can't take HRT.
I was on the estrogen patch for two years and went off of it. I still haven't gotten retested yet to see if the estrogen levels have gone back to normal. If women have their ovaries removed they most likely go into surgical menopause and may need to be on HRT hormone replacement therapy. If they can't be on HRT then there are other options. My ovaries are still kicking in it seems and it's been several years since my TVH total vaginal hysterectomy. I don't regret it at all. I was very miserable beforehand and couldn't be away from a bathroom more than 20 minutes at a time.
Symptoms of menopause can be hot flashes, lack of sexual interest, depression, irritablility to name a few. You may want to also check out the following link about another who asked about HRT after keeping their ovaries.
Anybody take HRT trhat have your ovaries?

are women more pron to urinary infections after menopaus?
I have a friend that has had urinary problems twice now in the last 2 months.. and am worried that i may be passing something on to her..even if i do not feel any urine problem...
----------
No, they aren't more prone to it. Menopause doesn't have anything to do with the urinary tract. However, she should urinate and clean herself after sex. (

What kind of non-steroidal medicine is the best for a persol in chronic pain?
My mother has fybromyalgiam theumatoid arthritis, some say lupus plus mania/deppression that is usually trigger by steroid injections. Sje was yalking a lot of oxycontins and they werent really helping with the pain, I told her to try Pot or marinol. the pot for the past few years has been an amazing remedy for numbing her body paid. Even pot has now stopped working, and she is going through menopaus. Anyone?
----------
That's a hard one to answer ,I know James said morphine, but that's go to raise her blood pressure and it's bad on your heart,by the way oxycontin is a type of morphine(right)I have a pump on my left side of my stomach,(under the skin)that delivers morphine for my back pain . That morphine came close to killing me, my blood pressure dropped super low. She needs to find a good pain management doctor to see . A pain doctor can give you meds that other doctor want give you .I do mean strong meds. (

whether post menopaus cause osteoporosis ?
Not all women develop osteoporosis after menopause. I know quite a few in their 60's who even had slipped and fallen down but not in danger due to brittle bones.
It all depends upon their constitution and their diet. (

I have been having severe breast pain of late, could you please tell me if breast pain a symptom of menopaus.?
When your periods stop in menopause then so does your hormone production causing what hormones are left to go right out of whack.
But not for everyone.
Abnormal hormone levels can cause all sorts of weird and wonderful affects such as those wonderful hot flushes, headaches, mood swings and so on.
So having sore breasts could be a sign of menopause.
But you don't state your age or if you have had a hysterectomy. Or any other surgically induced ceasing of the mensus.
It would depend on these things to say if it was menopause symptoms for you. (
