Dealing with microcephaly

Postby shirlmch@gmail.com » Thu May 31, 2012 12:16 am

I have a granddaughter diagnosed with idiopathic microcephaly. She is now 12 and is in a school class with students 2 years younger. She is reading and speaking very well, now, but finds it difficult to comprehend maths and essay writing. Has tantrums, and at time, very unreasonable. She has been tossed backwards and forwards with access visits to a father who is a psychopath and has done a lot of harm psychologically to Lily which consists of heavy smacking, undue exercise and perpetual running down of the mother. Custody comes up next week and the father refuses to accept her condition and says he treats her normally and she responds and the mother is "over anxious". So, it is easy to see how Lily becomes confused with such polarised actions. Any comments, and what will happen as she grows older with her secondary education.
