1/2. meningitis after obstetric spinal anaesthesia.A case of meningitis after obstetric spinal anaesthesia is reported. The possible aetiological causes of postspinal meningitis are discussed and the difficulty in differentiation between aseptic and bacterial meningitis noted. Ways to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination of cerebrospinal fluid are mentioned. 2/2. meningitis after combined spinal-extradural anaesthesia in obstetrics.We report two cases of meningitis which developed after combined spinal-extradural procedures for obstetric analgesia. The first case was thought to be caused by aseptic or chemical meningitis and the second was a case of bacterial meningitis in a patient who also received an extradural blood patch.
