1/3. rabeprazole-induced acute interstitial nephritis.

    Acute interstitial nephritis is an uncommon but important cause of acute renal failure. proton pump inhibitors are now thought to be the most common class of drugs implicated in drug-induced acute interstitial nephritis. This is the first reported case of rabeprazole-induced acute interstitial nephritis.

2/3. Interstitial deletion of chromosome 13: prognosis and adult phenotype.

    A de novo interstitial deletion of chromosome 13 (46,XY,del(13)(pter   q14.3::q22.3   qter] is described in a 22 year old man with severe mental retardation, poor language development, low set ears, hypertelorism, broad nasal bridge, short hands and fingers, and a history of swallowing disorder in childhood with subsequent dyspepsia. The dysmorphic features did not become evident until later childhood, supporting the view that karyotyping should be performed routinely in all children with developmental delay.

3/3. cimetidine-induced interstitial nephritis with response to prednisone therapy.

    Acute renal failure developed in a patient after she received cimetidine therapy. A renal biopsy specimen showed acute interstitial nephritis. Withdrawal of cimetidine therapy led to improvement of renal function. Rechallenge with cimetidine occurred during prednisone therapy. Renal function continued to improve, but worsened when the treatment with these steroids was discontinued.
